Nothing like looking like an old fart! I got new glasses...I needed one more pair so I wouldn't have to dig the reading glasses out of my purse all the time. THe frames are so much money. So I go to the bargin bin and get a pare out that look alot like my other very exspensive ones... I was so pleased to only pay $30.00:D Then My husband draws my attention to the fact that they slightly turn up (LIKE CAT EYE GLASSES IN THE 60's!!!   ) I hadn't noticed this before but if you REALLY LOOK.... He is right! I am 47 and fighting it every inch of the way!!!! Man this was a blow... I am old but I don't want to LOOK it! |
I wear glasses (and contacts) and my glasses are $400 and up. It drives me crazy. I am one of those people that have to have several pairs to match outfits..............I would hate having to wear the same old pair all the time. I just think it would get boring. I was in Costco about 4 months ago and decided to take a look at their frames. They have great frames. High end designer brands. I got two pairs for a little less then it would of cost me for one at the reg. eye doctor! I was so pleased. I plan to go back this month for another pair! |
Just wait until you hit 60 and need those bifocals...I get the no line ones and they are really expensive. |

I discovered this little "secret" last year! Last time I got a pair of Dolce and Gabbana frames for $40! Last week I got a pair of Bulova frames. With the lenses it cost $179. So exciting! |

Well, try having 3 pairs of prescription glasses - 1 progressive bifocals for just walking around, 1 bifocal for computer work/reading and 1 with tint for driving. Now THAT'S feeling OLD!!!! And by the way, my very first pair of glasses were cat eye's - LOL! |

2 Attachment(s) I've got 4 different pairs of glasses, and I bought the frames on eBay for like 15 bucks a piece. I will NEVER buy them from the optometrist again now that I know how much they mark them up. Oh, and cat eye frames are VERY in right now. I bought a pair that used to belong to someone's grandmother, and I get tons of compliments on them! Attachment 189687Attachment 189688 I'll try to find pics of the other two pair. |
3 Attachment(s) I went and took pics of the other two pair. I love having a choice of which ones to wear, especially because I can't go without my glasses. I've been wearing them for 15 years! Attachment 189703Attachment 189704Attachment 189705 I have always wanted to make the last ones Rx, but don't think I'll ever do it. :p |

http://www.stlukeseye.com/eyeq/monovision.asp I wear only one contact lenses and use one eye for distance and one eye for closeup. I hated glasses all my life, and I would lose them all the time. Got contacts at 16 and have not worn glasses since. Ask your doctor about it. This is not for everybody, but perhaps you are a candidate. I would have Lasik monovision surgery if I were not such a scaredy Kat! |
I do the monovision thing, too. Have been for about 10 years. I get the 2-week disposable's, take them out at nite and make them last for 6 months or more. I am going on my 3rd year with my original 6 month box of contacts. I had a pair of blended in trifocals but the prescriptions were all wrong. I am going to break down and get a pair of glasses, tho. It's hard to drive at nite with only one contact in. If you do go with the monovision - remember to take glasses when you go to the DMV for your license renewal eye test, lol. They won't pass you with only one good eye. |
eyemasters always has the cutest glasses for 2 for 99 dollars.. lenses and frames included.. pretty good if you ask me... |

I did not bring glasses with me. Then you send that form in to renew your license for 8 years. My assistant principal is blind in one eye and has a driver's license.:2omg: I do not know about PA though. Each state is different. I am still on my first "year's" supply of daily wear. It has been a year and a half and I have plenty left. I switch lenses every month so my year's supply can last me forever it seems. 1-800-CONTACTS. Good price for more than a year's supply (370$ if I remember correctly.) Oh, and mine are astigmatic also. (Toric HydroCurve???) I do have a cute pair of glasses for "just in case". Got them at Walmarts in FL for 85$ 2 years ago. Never wore them. |
