Any military families out here? My husband just called to say that he's going to Korea for 2 months in 2 weeks, and that after that he's probably going to the Philippines for 6 months. I am so upset...he hasn't been deployed before and I don't know how to deal with it. Poor Xavier doesn't know what to do with me! Ugh... I have a lot of choices to make now. Anybody have any advice or insight? It'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
Honey I will keep y'all in my prayers. I do know that there are several military families on here. Many thanks to all of you for all you are doing. |
I'm sorry I dont know what you are going through nor do i have any words of wisdom but let me just say "Thank You" to your husband for his bravery and I hope he is returned safe and sound to you very soon :hands: :hands: :hands: for his safe return |
Thank you both very much! :) Prayers are the most important thing :) I know I should be thankful that he isn't going to Iraq...but its still so hard... |

I personally am not in the military but my older brother is. Right now he is based in Italy. But he will be sent within the next following weeks or days to the Middle East (to be more exact I believe he said Kuwait but I'm not sure.) This will be the second time he has been sent to the Middle East. I know is not easy and I can't imagine what my sister in law may be feeling as she will be by herself in Italy for about 6 months and they just moved there this past year. Do you have the option to go with him when he's in both places? That way you won't be apart from him and won't feel so lonely. My sister in law has gone everywhere with my brother that she is able to and also their two beagles. They met in Japan while he was based there (she is a mix of Japanese and Peruvian) and she left everything over there when he was moved to North Dakota and now she is with him in Italy. I know is not easy for her as all her family is divided between Japan and Peru but she rather be with my brother than be apart from him. She says that is the military live for her. I wish you the best of luck I know its a tuff time and you'll have to make some real hard decisions but make sure that you do what you believe is the best for you and your husband. I will keep the both of you in my prayers. |
I don't think I could go with him to Korea, but the Philippines should be a possibility! Thank you for bringing that up, I totally forgot about that even being an option! I would love to be able to go with him! I bet it is hard on your sister-in-law to be so far from her family, but I'm sure its worth it to get to be with her hubby! Thanks again :) |
I do not have any options or ideas for you, but I just wanted you to know that you have a large circle of family and friends here on YT. |

I will say this if I'm not mistaken So. Korea is a great place to go shopping cause they are really cheap (I believe this is what my brother and sister-in-law said) so if you can't go have your hubby do lots of shopping for you. And if you do go you'll have a blast shopping. My brother and sister-in-law would fly there all the time when he used to live in Japan as Japan was very expensive. Look at this as a positive thing of this whole ordeal althoug I know it is not easy. :p May I ask, in what military branch is your husband in if you don't mind telling? |
That would be neat to go to shopping in Korea! He's going for training, but maybe I could go?? I've always wanted to see the world. He's trained as a satellite communications specialist in the Army, but he's going to be working with radio support for a SF group. Kinda confusing, but in simpler form...he's in the Army. lol. And thank you to Jenn :) |
I am in the military and the first time I was deployed involuntarily I left my hubby for 3 1/2 months for Turkey after 9/11. We were not married yet, but had only lived together 6 months at that time. I was devastated. I could not believe I was leaving. Spend all the time you can together and make sure you have everything in order before he leaves. That will make it easier while he is gone. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I have heard Korea is a great place to shop. Hopefully, hubby will send you back some really nice packages. |
I grew up a military brat:) My mom and us kids went just about everywhere my dad was stationed. It was rough sometimes but looking back we all have some real great memories and experiences most people don't get to have in a lifetime. |
