I may be meeting the Queen this year!
 
My hubby is in the Royal Air Force, yesterday he comes home from work and says to me.."fancy going to visit the Queen at Buckingham Palace"? I just laughed and said "yeah right!" apparently, about 3-4 times a year the queen holds garden parties for members of the British forces and you can apply to attend, I have no idea if we WILL go but isn't it exciting! I would be sooooooo nervous though..I don't think I would be able to speak to her! If she came my way I think I would RUN! LOL:p I just know I would embarrass myself and start babbling on and stuttering or something!:2omg:
I'll let you know if we get picked to go!

He has filled in the paperwork and sent it off..Our 13 year old son would be coming too. I'll have to go and buy a hat! LOL:p

Oh, how exciting that would be....I would have loved to meet Princess Di also.... don't they have a "do's and don't" rule book for meeting the royals? for ex., how to greet them, which hand to shake, etc...?

Hope you guys get picked! That would be awesome!

I think you should take Pixie too. Wouldn't she enjoy a romp in the garden with the Royal Corgis? :)

I would LOVE to take her! good thing it's a GARDEN party though because i just know Pixie would piddle on her carpet!:eek:

She does not engage in conversation with people, shake her hands if she lets you shake it, and then courtesy, that is proper;) . I have had the pleasure to meet her when i was a child of 10 she was beautiful then and then in 2004 I was accidentally in London with my father and mother and she was dissolving parliament and we had the pleasure to see her in all her glory and in the royal parade, it was terribly exciting:D

I've never met her one on one but have had the pleasure of seeing her on 2 occasions. One was at the White House in Washington, DC about 30 years ago and then another time at the Myerson Center in Dallas. We sat right behind her. Now to go to a garden party at Buckingham palace would be something really special though.....even if you didn't personally meet her.

Patty, if she goes to the garden party, the Queen is in some way obligated to greet her guests:D but not engage in coversation, just her duty of meeting them on as a routine, but still exciting. I would go if I were her

I don't have a girl to shop with either...usually hubby and my 13 year old son who will stand there rolling his eyes and saying.."MUM"! :rolleyes:
