Big ole Sissy Girl Yep,that's me when it comes to going to the dentist. I was eating a now or later and my crown popped off.OMG! I'm freaking out,I hate going to the dentist and almost always have a full blown panic attack when I'm there. I currently don't even have a Dentist ,I ditched him because everytime he did anything it was messed up.I think he needs to retire. I hope I can find one and get is asap.Well not really,but...... Has anyone had one fall off? |

 Good Luck!!!!! |

Thanks Cindy. I have a post and I didn't want it to break so I silpped the crown over it and slept with it on. I was terrified I would swallow it though. |

Ugh, I know exactly how you feel! My front tooth is a crown (someone came down from a pyramid in high school and punched me in the mouth) well I've been dealing with this since I was fifteen. My first crown lasted about 11 years, I had it replaced 6 months ago because the color was becoming yellowish...well this weekend I found a hairline crack running through it...I'm terrified that my tooth will fall of (happened before) and now I have to wonder if the dentist will replace it for free because the crown should have lasted longer than that and quite frankly I can't afford the 1400.00 it'll take to replace it AGAIN!! Sooo yeah, I totally feel ya...did you know that the grocery store sells emergency crown glue?? it'll be with the toothbrushes and stuff...hope all ends well!! |

You really should go and see another dentist if you don't like your current one. (I know...easy for me to say!). He can probably put it back on without a big problem. It's best not to wait. Good luck. (hug) PS-I'm scared of doctors, test results, etc. etc....so I hear ya! |

GOOD LUCK! I feel for you!! I am unfortunate and have bad teeth...the dentist swears that it has nothing to do with family...but my Dad's side all has bad teeth and I was unlucky enough to inherit that. We go once a year for cleanings and if they see anything, we go from there. AND I am sorry to say...I am not "attached" to my teeth and if one is too far gone...I would rather it be pulled than spend a small fortune to save that one tooth......is that bad??!! I spent several years before I found my current dentist and I love him and the staff! There was one I really like a few years ago, but the office staff was horrible!!! And when he asked why we no longer seen him, I told him that office staff plays a big role in how a patient views their doctor. |

Girl! What were you doing eating Now & Laters when you have a crown??!!! Okay, fussing over (but I had to do it)...... I understand completely. I have crowns and have to stay away from that kind of candy but it's SO hard that I have given in a time or two and sucked a Now & Later. But it's SO hard to not bite them, isn't it?? Not sure what to tell you except that unfortunately, they can't just "put a crown back on". You'll need a new one. At least that's what I think I've been told. I know that sucks because I'm looking to get one more (the only molar not crowned already) before too long and my oldest crown is now almost 20 years old and that's about the "life expectancy" of them. I just pray for the best because I certainly can't afford one right now. Try the glue stuff someone mentioned (didn't know that existed!) until you can get to the dentist. I do feel your pain though regarding going to one. |

I hate going to the dentist too!!! I got some good advice last time i was there. Bring your MP3 player and listen to some music. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm bringing mine next time I go. Plus, why does the hygienist try and talk to you while she's got your mouth wide open??? I never understood that.... When i go to the dentist, I lay there in the chair and sweat like a pig because I'm so nervous! I have only had a couple of cavities in my lifetime, but recently i complained about a front tooth that was yellowing and the next thing i know I'm getting a root canal and crown put in. Traumatizing!! Not too mention the $1500+ bill. Before i had this done i was so nervous it was going to be painful, but turns out, the numbing shots weren't even that bad and after that i couldn't feel a thing. The only bad part was when i needed to use the restroom in the middle of the procedure and made the mistake of smiling in the mirror and having no front tooth. OMG!!! |

I just wasn't thinking, something I do best these days.;) They can recement it back on as long as it isn't cracked or broken,I go wednesday. Quote:

Really?? They can do that? Maybe that was the answer I got because I was asking about a crown my 11 yr old had that came off - it's one of those "silver crowns" that they do when a tooth has a cavity on the side and it looks like it's gonna be hard to keep cavity-free. Maybe those kind can't be put back on. She actually lost that baby tooth though. I originally thought that just the crown had come off because her other tooth was already showing so much. I've never had one of my porcelain ones come off. But that's great to know in case one ever does. See, that visit won't be so bad...... it could definitely be worse! I did have to laugh at the candy thing though because I know I'm not perfect about staying away from that stuff. I would really fuss at the kids (when they had their "silver crowns") about eating chewy candy like that but I would do it myself anyway. ;) |

 Todays The Day. 8 AM |

What scares me about the dentist is the COST!! I swear we sent a whole office to Tahiti last year on what we had to pay 'em (for spouse)! Dental insurance was used up in one visit!! (it had a $1000 max). Now we have a discount card, and believe you me - it pays for itself in no time. :) No maximums on those. I hate the hygenist the most, they feel they must chastise you as if you are 5 years old about flossing even if ones teeth are perfect. I swear they are programmed that way. I haven't had a cavity since 1985 yet I still get chastised about flossing. (I know where they can put their floss! LOL!!!!!!!:p ) Hope your dds visit goes well today! |

I've had mine fall off before. You can ask the dentist for a valium to calm you down before you go, but someone will have to drive you. |

All went well....you knew it would ,right? |
