Chargeback? Ok I just looked on my online banking and it is showing a CHARGEBACK & a CHARGEBACK FEE? Does anyone work for a bank? What does this mean? I have no clue what a chargeback is? :eek: |
A chargeback is when someone has disputed an amount charged to their credit card. When a seller has not given a refund themselves, it is called a chargeback. |
thats strange.. I HAVENT SOLD ANYTHING.. to anyone .. i bought something from ebay but paid asap and got my item.. i looked on my paypal and everything is fine.....could it be anything else? goverment like IRS maybe? Or some type of fraud ?> |
It sounds like it's simply a mistake on the bank's part. I'd contact the bank tomorrow.... |
Generally when I hear chargeback....I think in reference to credit card sales...but perhaps a check you deposited from someone was returned by their bank...back to yours? Then your bank would chargeback (take out) that amount from your account. |

Mercy! :eek: That's a lot of money to have taken out of your account and not know what the heck is going on! I'd be at the bank when they open. |

Thank goodness! You should be able to recover the fees by charging them to the writer of the hot check. Glad it worked out for you. That sort of loss would be devastating....for me, anyway. |

It typically takes about 3 days for a check to clear..the best thing to do when you get a check from someone, is take it to their bank, if it's no good, they will tell you right then. otherwise, if you get a check and put it in to your acct. then you never want to write a check off of that money until you're sure its cleared |
Banks I think that is so unfair of the banks. When someone gives you a bad check you are out of that money & then out of the fees the bank charges as well. This happened to me a while back, I accepted checks for deposits on my Yorkie puppies and I got a bad one. The bank charged me fees for it, I was so mad. I was mad at the girl that sent me a bad check & mad that I was out of even more money!:mad: |
I was going to tell you it's when someone writes a bad check they take the money back from you and charge a fee. I would get the money back from the person who wrote the bad check. That has happened to us a couple of times my husband owns a business and we have had a couple of bad checks given to us. I know how you feel its very alarming!! Glad it worked out |
