Friday = Up in Smoke
 

I was working from home this morning because part of the highway was shut down due to wrecks from black ice. So I decided to stay at home for a little while when all the sudden my lights are flickering and I lose connection... then the ambulance goes by.... then the fire truck.... Im a small town so in town, sirens arent always used.

My neighbors house was on FIRE! It is a complete loss. There are some thing that are salvable in the home but other than that... its gone. After all said and done, we had two neighboring cities come in to assist.

They have 8 kids, 5 are still at home. My house has been hub central all day and my washer/dryer have never seen so much laundry. I have been washing what they were able to get out so far.

Im exhausted and feel just horrible for them. The Red Cross put them up in a hotel for 3 days but after that... not sure where they aer going to go. What a horrible feeling. Esp w/5 kids! Luckily all the teen girls are able to stay with friends.

I also have inherited their dog. I love Rosie, she is a sweet old dog but she does not like Sam. So I am not sure what we are going to do there. She is an outside dog so that helps.

Luckily this weekend its suppoesd to be 70 -- today hasnt got over 33 but tomorrow, its gonna be 70 -- Texas!

Im off to bed now. Please say a prayer for the family. Thank you!


PS Grayxie... thanks for the sending the firemen my way but I think Id rather have them the other way :rolleyes: ;) Besides....I was lookin ever so sexy in shorts, not brushed hair, no make up.... oh yea... thats HOT... :D

Wow! How terrible for your neighbors. House fires are NOT fun and are so very scary. I am thankful that the family and pets made it out safely. Stuff can be replaced.

You are an angel wearing human skin, Twalla. Thank the Good Lork that you were there for your neighbors. I will keep ALL of you in my prayers.

What a super person you are, I'm sure they will rest a little easier knowing they have a friend like you. Sending out prayers that they get back on their feet fast.

I just found out the house down the street from us burnt yesterday too. The paper said it was a total loss.
The house was a Eye sore (kinda looked like a monopoly house 8the green ones* )
But I feel terrible for the family.
I have been trying to find out how I can help them. I had never met them.:(

Lori, thank you for the offer. I am not sure what they need at this point and Im not sure they know either. They still not sure where they are going to go after Monday. The school brought over boxes of stuff today and Im not even sure what all is in there. How 'bout making them a comfort basket? Small toiletries, snacks, notepads,pens/pencils, bottled water, medicines, etc. I think that would help them, think of the little things that people over look.


Right now Im struggling with Rosie. I am not sure what I am going to do with her. I have a fenced in backyard but she will not stay back there. She is a roaming dog. I have her dog house over here and food out. -- Which they were feeding her cat food :confused: And now she is laying over at the old house and refuses to come over to mine. I am hoping she will come back over here later tonight. I put her out some DOG food with a little cheese on it to tempt her. My other two boys love Rosie and Rosie love them but gosh she absolutely hates Sam. :(
