Anybody have a colicky baby? The doc just diagnosed him with colic and I want advice from ppl who have been there and know what they are talking about thx |
OMG...been there, glad we've passed that! I cant remember the name of the hold, but put your baby face down on one arm....your hand should go between its legs...then clasp hands...tummy down on your arms....WALK WALK WALK. DONT BEAT YOURSELF UP! You are not a bad mommy! Best advice you will get: GET HELP when it seems like too much. Cry if you need to (if you're not now...you likely will sooner or later). Good luck, we went through this forever. I felt like the worst mother in the world and I felt like I should never have had her ( )...but you will get through it. |

PM me if you need better clarification to the hold |
thx! it is starting to work all ready! |
YES!!!!! Thats great. In my experience, it was the only thing that worked. Are you alone? You will get tired...as soon as you try to sit or stop, baby will start to cry again. If you can, rotate with your husband/bf/partner. Baby will eventually tire out for the night. I feel your pain! |
thx guys for the support and advice |
Have you heard about Gripe Water? It is all natural and our peditrician even told us it was just fine. When we bought it, there was actually a waiting list from the store that we purchased it from. LOL! The brand that we used was called Baby's Bliss. I researched all of them until I found one that I felt completely comfortable with. Here's the website: http://www.blissbymom.com There's a spot on there where you can type in your area code and find out if it's sold where you live. I hope this helps! Tammy |
Sorry, one more thing. When you get exhausted, put baby in the crib. He/she will cry, but is safe in there. (of course, make sure there is nothing in the crib or around the crib to harm babe). Give yourself a break. I used to go out on my balcony. It was right beside the bedroom so I could still hear the crying and knew she was safe (but colicy), but it gave me 5 minutes away...fresh air did wonders for me. |
I have never had kids, but have dealt with several whn I worked in a nursery and nannied. At one point we had this thing called the 4 S's.... swing, swaddle, "shh", and ??? (i forget) The most successful I have been with a colicky baby was just to hold it and rock it back and forth and say "shhh". she was also quite while swingin |
I loved the Gripe water, it saved my life. I didnt know you could get it state side though, we lived in Canada then, so Im glad you posted:) My kids also did well wih the side to side swing, hated the normal one. Just hold on it will pass. |
we used Mylicon and also gripe water for my DD and it worked wonders ;) also the colic tablets by hylands, i was skeptical to use them, but they seemed to work and melted immediately too :) |
Also, I think I seem to remember that the front carriers worked well too. So it's almost like still being pregnant but it's amazing how much you can learn to do with a baby strapped to the front of you. Good Luck! It will be over before you know it! |
Yes my niece, my brother's baby is 3 months old and she gets a lot of gases and cries alot from the pain. I would like any info so i can tell them about it |
