Anyone have a pet bird(s)? 2 Attachment(s) I love pet birds and think that they are beautiful. Does anyone have a pet bird? Let's see some pictures!! I have a parrotlet named Fern. I've had her for 5 months now. She is great and loves being out of the cage. Attached are some pictures of her. :) |
I have a cockatiel. His name is Woody. He is about 25yrs old. He doesn't come out of his cage:( I have 4 cats:) He is a happy chap though! Sheilagh |
I have had parakeets that only stayed in their cages, and I had a love bird that I had to give away. She would not stay in her cage, no matter what, and of course, she really needed to be out. But our Yorkie goes nuts over birds. The parakeets made her very nuts! One day I came home from work and found the love bird walking around the cat in the middle of the room. Thankfully the cat didn't care.:D But our Yorkie was locked in her kennel, which saved the bird's life. Since I could not trust the two together, I gave the love bird to a friend. I miss her!:( |
I have an African Grey and two cockatiels.:) |
4 Attachment(s) I have a african grey congo and a green wing mccaw.my birds dont like my husband ,when he takes pics of them it can only be when they are in there cages other wise they will try and bite him, |
2 Attachment(s) I have a lovebird named Sam. I never had a pet bird until Sam....these little guys are pretty smart. He likes to take baths and sleeps in a bed. He isn't afraid of my 2 cats and maltichon, Chloe. I think Bella would like to eat him. She goes crazy when we take him out of his cage. :D |
I have 2 ring necked doves and a parakeet, the parakeet, I just got done chasing all over the house after I found him with his leg caught in the cage door and once I released him, he started bleeding all over. So I had to grab him and put some cornstarch on his leg/foot, and when I was putting him back into his cage, for some reason, I thought he'd just go right in like the dove does when I put him up to the door...nope~ he flew up up and away:eek: . Luckily, I'd just closed the sliding door by their cage when Max came in. Max went nuts, the bird went nuts-er, and I had to first catch Max to put him into a room and close the door and then try to catch the parakeet (we have very high ceilings and ledges for the lucky little bird to perch and hide on, LOL....what a morning! He's finally in his cage safe and sound though). I had 2 Moluccan cockatoos (that I've posted photos of before) for 18 and 20 years that both died within the last year and a half. I won't live long enough to get over losing them:( . I LOVE birds of all kinds! Fern is a really cute name for your bird! |

Lovebirds are so cute! I used to breed them and handfeed the babies....they're so much fun! |
4 Attachment(s) I have a Cockateil named Feathers and he is a total buttface! I love him so much! He will only listen to me and he is super loud! I let him out of his cage a lot, he loves to sit on me and loves even more to be in front of a mirror. He makes lots of noises, but he wont say any words! I have tried everything to get him to talk and say phrases but nothing! I know he is just being a stinker! He and Addison get along great. |

Fern is SO CUTE! I never heard of a parrotlet before. What is her personality like? Is she loud? Never thought I'd say this, but she has an expressive face! |
Everyones birds are so beautiful! I'm also partial to lovebirds.. when I was debating on a bird I was between a lovebird and a parrotlet. |
OMG these are the sweetest pictures! I would just love a bird someday <3 |

She is very friendly and loves being out of the cage. Unlike most birds, she isn't partial to any one member of the family. She does NOT like being alone. If walk into another room she instantly goes nuts. She was a little nippy when she was younger, but she's pretty much gotten over it. She bickers and makes noises at the weirdest stuff: plastic bags, crinkling paper, spray bottles, etc. She isn't as loud as, say, a macaw or other larger bird but if you are like me and not used to birds, she can be loud! Parrotlets lack the ability to scream, but they still can be kind of loud IMO. I guess it's all relative. She is the loudest when you leave her. Overall, she is great! I'd love a second one. They come in green, yellow, and blue. I think the blues are beautiful as well. |

Sorry to hear about your cockatoos! They are beautiful birds as well. |
I wanted a lovebird so badly! And I think Fern is just the sweetest looking lovebird ever! The chirps that they do are so sweet and soothing! This is a great thread, I just love all the birds! |
