So pissed.. :thumbdown I wrote a thread the other night about my laptop being messed up. Well night 1 I talked to the guy, it seem to be fixed.. NOPE it wasn't. Night 2 I talked to the guy AND restored my computer back to the orginal settings.. Which means that I lost EVERYTHING.. i was already frustrated.. Well after that my computer appered to be fine. Well guesss what? Its not. So here I am LOST every DARN thing that i had on this computer.. and the problem is still here.... So now I will have to send my computer in and be without it for a week.. and hoping that they fix the problem and don't mess anything else up.. well it really doesn't matter if they mess anything up I have lost everything to begin with..... uhhhhhhhh I hate HP i hate them I hate them.. Sorry I needed to vent. |
That sux. Happened to my Daughter. They had her laptop for almost 2 weeks:( |
I know how you feel, I had to have my laptop taken in for 2weeks, thought i was going to go crazy, that gosh i have a desk top to;) but still its not the same.hope it get fixed soon for you:) |
I am going to get my money back and get an apple. |
Mine went in 3 times... each time I only had it back for a day when the same problem happened again and then they would take it for repair again for 1-2 wks... 3rd time it came back and was still faulty and I got to get a replacement! :D |
It there fault to that I had to earase everything and theres still the same problem... So Im just irrated with the whole thing.. I live off this computer so Its not like I can have them take it.. then get it back with the same problem. I doubt that they will even fix it the first time. |

They had me erase it, so i know its gone. I did a system recover, I think was what its called.. |
 I had the same problem with my laptop. I lost everything! I didn't really care other than I lost a lot of pictures of my son and puppy pictures of Sachi. I was (still am) devestated by that. |

I know, same here. I had atleast 200 pics of Aub and kota on there.. GONE... and I deleted some off them off my camera, so they have really pissed me off. |
I have a friend whose daughter had a HP laptop that did the same thing yours is doing. The daughter is in college and had EVERYTHING on the laptop. After taking it in for repairs 3 times, she just got a new one and bought a Toshiba. (The store gave her a store credit that she put towards the new one. She said she'd NEVER have a HP again) |

Thats what they are going to do. But I just found out that my microsoft office programs won't be comptable on mac.. so that means that I have wasted 150$ on something that I won't even be able to use. It just can't get any better... |

That has to be so frustrating to lose all your stuff! I had to have my ipod restored and lost all my stuff (not too big of a deal since it was all on my computer), but I still felt all freaked out!! |
try an external hard drive as a back-up 3 Attachment(s) here is a suggestion, buy an external hard drive and copy everything to it. Then if, heaven forbid, something bad happens and you lose your stuff on the local drive, you can restore it with the external hard drive. (#1 picture, about the size of a deck of cards) this is an 80GB external hard drive I have, I like this one, it is small. I am using it now. http://i23.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/bb/d1/daa0_2.JPG check ebay of course! (#2 picture) is a 500GB external Hard drive, I have not hooked it up yet. It looks way big. (#3 picture) this is a memory stick, it holds 128KB to 2 GB depending which you buy. It is small enough to carry on your key chain. http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-FLASH-ME...QQcmdZViewItem Good Luck! |

That was what I was going to do before the guy had me restore it back to factory settings.. so now I don't have anything to store back to my harddrive, its all gone!!! All the pics of Aub and Kota from when they were babies.... He said something about that I wouldn't be able to store it or something, I don't remember his reasoning... but I did ask him about it.. But when I try to get my money back I will bring it up about me trying to store it on an external hard drive. Thanks though! |

Some of them might be on here, Ill have to do some research, but a lot of them I had on my computer and I deleted them off my camera so I would have more room... big mistake. |

I have ALL my pics ...my card and label orders..... not to mention years of work on my computer so can't afford to do anything till I back it all up - I was going to do it to DVD but holy cow - It would have taken me 4 days superstar - sorry you lost everything - That guy should have STRESSED that would happen when you did a full factory restore |
I know, he should have. Hes going to get getting yelled at after I yell at the hp ppl tomorrow!!! lol |
I've always owned a DELL and never had a problem. Even the company I work for uses DELL as some of the software we use has problems running on HP. One company I worked for went from DELL to HP and it wasn't long before they replaced everything back to DELL. And Walmart and Sam's now sell DELL so you can get some good deals. We always buy direct from DELL because we get the Shell discount since hubby works there. I am so sorry about your loss though. I hope you get things worked out soon! Good luck! |

I have also heard good thigns about dell.. The computer idiot and hp told me something like.. if you are having problems with your dell that you can contact them and they can work on your computer over the phone, is that true? |

You most definitely need to have an external hard drive. From what I understand, you have so many valuable things that it would be disastrous to lose any of it. An 80GB would be fine for you with the pictures and all, but if you want to play it safe go for the 500GB one and then you really do not have to worry. They also have 320GB. Look for the best price. Also it is easier to recall them when you plug the USB in and keep the HD as an extension. Shuffling through a CD (and just the arduous task of saving to a CD) can be more difficult. The external Hard Drive becomes Drive E: in addition to Local Drive C; (which stays there also) on your desktop (probably under MY COMPUTER) .. Drive D: is your disk drive, where the CDs go. You do not lose that either. all you have to do is right click START , EXPLORE and then either use COPY TO or SEND TO {drive E:}. It may take a while but you do not have to monitor it. But be careful, the only reason I have 3 is because I bid on so many and then won 3 of them. I did not plan to get 3. But I did not want to back out of any of the contracts. Good Luck! |
THANK YOU !!! I have 22GB on my C Drive and the smaller size would work perfect - This is so helpful !! I had talked to a co-worker about my computer and she was going to have me bring mine in so her husband could fix it without restoring it - but if I do it this way I can do it myself - :D :D Are they expensive ? I'm moving in 3 weeks and am really REALLY trying to watch the pennies EDITED !! I'm such a dork - I went to your links - they're SO cheap - are those prices for real ?? |
I am so sorry! It is so very frustrating to have computet trouble. |
