Terrorist Attack? Egg McMuffin? My whole city is screwed up. Due to people leaving their damn McDonald's bags on the trains by accident, the entire public transportation system in Chicago is screwed up. Extra security (cops) are positioned at every train station yesterday and today. The ones I saw were barely awake and were not even paying attention to what was going on around them. I was sitting on a bench waiting for my train with an officer sitting next to me. He didn't even look up from his newspaper ONCE in fifteen minutes. Just like any other day, this guy on his way to work eats his freaking Egg McMuffin and hashbrown on one of the trains and leaves his garbage there when he gets out. A few minutes later a woman in his train car reports the crumbled up bag as a 'suspicious package' to the train driver and the train is delayed while the freaking BOMB SQUAD is brought in. Similar thing happened this morning when a guy on his way to O'Hare (busiest airport in the country) on the Blue Line train accidentally left his small "man bag" on the seat next to him when he got off. Trains shut down. No one could get to work. No one could do anything but sit in the dark subway tunnels. I AM SO FRUSTRATED |
wow that sounds frustrating!!! why can't people just throw their stupid trash away!!!! and just a question, how is a mcdonald's bag "suspicious looking"???? |
That sucks. But the way you told it was hilarious. What a crazy screwed up world we live in, huh? |
Good ole windy city!!!!! |

Isn't that the truth? That's what I find myself chalking everything up to. :) Thank God you don't have to take the 'L'! |
Kristy all you can do is keep your sense of humor. And yours is so wicked it always makes me laugh. It's like, "Oh oh step away from the McMuffin. We've called in a bomb squad to disarm it!!" |

ok so you just gave me a reason to actually like oklahoma i drive myself to work and dont have to deal with other people's crap..but i understand after the OKC bombin every stupid yellow ryder truck threw people in a tizzy |
Terrorists suck!!! I live in the NYC subs, and my husband commutes every day - not to mention that he frequently travels to London where his "parent company" is based. Around here the inconvenience is just a part of our everyday life. It's calmed down alot since 911, but we lost SO many friends and neighbors that the typically impatient New Yorkers have become pretty tolerant of delays. (We could actually smell the Trade Centers burning from my yard! My dogs thought it was a skunk, and were going nuts for days trying to find it!) So keep your humor, keep it in stride, and know that the inconvenience is better than the alternative! After all, at least no one will question why you're late for work, right. Maybe you can get an extra hit on the snooze bar and blame in on a croissandwich wrapper! |

No subway= :D for me. I would rather drive 45 minutes a day than commute that long with strangers on the subway. I've been in most of the major ones and they kinda creep me out...I so remember the Ryder truck thing...if someone saw a neighbor moving with a Ryder truck the cops were there in like 5 minutes. It was so funny... |
I live in such a small little hick town and can't imagine what all you who live in the big cities have to go through day in and day out!!! Soo sad that this is what our world has come to. :( Makes you think twice about bringing another little innocent child into this crazy world!! Sherry Lynn- I can't imagine what you and all other New yorkers had to go thru. My heart still aches when I think about that day and to have been soo close??? :( I too wouldn't mind the delays if it means a safer community. :) |
