Nesting, Nesting, Nesting.........Go ahead and bake. It'll be good for you. The night before I had my daughter I decided to wall paper the dining room. The next morning I finished hanging the paper between contractions.....5 hrs later she was born!!! |

This is going to sound strange but I mad Chicken & Dumplings, Chicken & Rice and Home made Chicken Soup all today. Im not pregnant and I hate to cook, But for some strange reason I wanted to cook today. It must be in the air. I dont eat sweets, Just never cared for them. I started with boiling a chicken and just couldnt stop. I still have some Chicken left if you tell me how to make the Pot pie that would just top it all off.:D |
Its getting a little chilly here, so thanks to your thread I am going to bake my BF an old comfort food... shepards pie! It was a childhood favorite of mine, hope I can make my momma proud! |
I got my Pot Pie recipe from Allrecipes.com. It's called Chicken Pot Pie IX Ingredients: 1 lb skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cubed 1 cup sliced carrots 1 cup frozen green peas 1/2 cup sliced celery 1/3 cup butter 1/3 cup chopped onion 1/3 cup all purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp black pepper 1/4 tsp celery seed 1 3/4 cups chicken broth 2/3 cup milk 2 (9 Inch) unbaked pie crusts **I made a few changes/additions: instead of frozen green peas, I used a mixed veggie. I used 1/2 c onion. Also, after I cubed the chicken I put garlic powder and pepper on it. 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F 2. In a saucepan, combine chicken, carrots, peas, and celery. Add water to cover and boil for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, drain, and set aside. 3. In the saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in butter until soft and translucent. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and celery seed. Slowly stir in chicken broth and milk. Simmer over medium-low heat until thick. Remove from heat and set aside. 5. Put lower crust in pie pan. Brush with egg. 6. Place the chicken mixture in bottom pie crust. Pour hot liquid mixture over. Cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut away excess dough. Brush upper crust with egg. Make several small slits in the top to allow steam to escape. 7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. And there is nothing else like warm corn bread with a delicious chicken pot pie. |
