who is getting ready for tonight?
 

I am about to take a shower, straighten my hair, and get dressed, i love getting all dressed up!! I bought a new dress from the limited for toninght it is so pretty, it's black baby doll style and the bottom is real flowy what is everyone else doing?? I am going downtown with my best friend, my husband is dropping us off and picking us up later so we dont have to drive, he si the greatest!

Hubby and I are going out for Chinese food with my mom and dad. After that we will come home and watch a movie.

I hope everyone has a great time tonight. :)

I was planning to have a party, but almost everyone was busy, and I didn't think it would be worth it to have a party with like...2 people haha. Next year!

Tonight it will just be me and the family. :)

Getting ready for New Years in my house is making sure we wear Gizmo out today so that MAYBE he will sleep through the fireworks. :rolleyes: If not, we'll do our best to act like fireworks are fun and our friends! LOL! ;)

I am also getting ready by taking down Christmas decorations and making black eyed peas for tomorrow.

Yep, I'm getting old. :D

I'm not getting ready yet...but I will later! (I'm taking full advantage of one of the last days I have off for awhile, and watching the Project Runway Marathon, LOL!)

Later on, I need to get showered and run to the store (Gotta make an appetizer and pick up some bubbly ;) ) and then probably around dinner time I'm going to start getting ready. Oh, and what we're doing...We're going to a friend's for appetizers/drinks, then out for a bit with the group, then back to their place to continue the festivities! Their party has a "Hollywood Theme"...whatever that means.? At first I thought it was that we were supposed to dress up as a celebrity couple, but after I had all my ideas for that, I asked what others were going as, and they said just to dress up nice, but not AS anyone. Glad I found that out ahead of time!

I went shopping yesterday-HUGE sales at the mall, so I picked up a couple of different options...Hmmm what to wear!?

Option 1: I got a new green jewel toned dress-halter/babydoll style with a kind of crimpy/pleated skirt on it, and it has a matching brooch right under the top. I would probably wear this with bronze shoes and a gold/bronze colored wrap

Option 2: I got new black pin-striped pants and a teal/emeraldish green corset top with black accents and rhinestone buttons, I'd wear it with black boots and my hair down, and maybe top it off with a leather blazer or other black jacket.. I was thinking of wearing this since it's COLD out :)

Option 3: Got plain black pants and a new royal blue halter top...top has gold accents on it, which I could pair with the bronze shoes/wrap from Option #1...Oh, decisions!

Don't mean to steal the thread, but what do you think?

Are you just making them, or is there some significance to them and the new year?

Maybe it's a southern thing, but my family always makes black-eyed peas as a good luck thing for the new year.:thumbup:

well for me getting ready is putting on clean jeans and maybe a little makeup. Going to a friends for appetizers but will come home early. Can't remember the last time I stayed up until midnight. Talk about getting old:D Used to be the kids but now it's Murfee always get up early no matter how late we stay up!!!

I'm sick so I'm probably not doing much of anything, but maybe I'll feel better later :)

Hmmm....I think my favorite of those descriptions is the green dress. It sounds very pretty! :)

Usually I put a little ham in the beans for flavor (try to get fresh ones). I serve it with ham, greens (If I can find good ones) and cornbread. Yum!

OH! Gotta go to the grocery store real quick..forgot something! LOL!

Thanks Megan! I WANT to wear the dress I think...but I'm afraid I'll be cold! It's only 20 degrees here now :snowman:

Sounds interesting...I don't eat ham...but DH does, so maybe I will make it for him! Or, I could probably sub some chicken sausage for flavor...I'll have to think about that one! Thanks!
