Whole Foods Diet Has anyone tried eating a whole foods diet? If so, do you feel any different? Can you give me a sample day's menu and maybe some standard items for my grocery list? Can you refer me to any websites or books to help me take the plunge? I don't eat beef or any other red meat. I don't really care whether I not I go vegetarian but I do want to eat eggs and dairy. I've given up on dieting and have decided to eat healthier. |
I have 'The Whole Foods Market Cookbook" which has been great because not only does it give you recipes, it always explains what some of the foods ARE and how to prepare them. This one also includes meat dishes (organic, free-range) I also have: Becoming Vegetarian The Essential Vegetarian Cookbook (I love this one too) Both of those contain no meat recipes, but DO have recipes that include dairy products. Congrats on deciding to eat healthier! |
I don't have any recipes, sorry! I need to get back to this way of eating, though, I never had felt better than when I ate naturally. Right now I'm on the holiday junk food bender:laugh: Pretty much just stick with the foods from the outer perimeter of the stores. Find a good local produce stand, if you can, and google for natural recipes, or just use regular ones and eliminate anything icky from them. Lots of fresh herbs will help keep things nicely flavored. I love to put mint in my fruit salad, and I make these lovely ground chicken patties with mint and cilantro, mmmmm! You sear them in a hot skillet and place them on a bed of baby spinach, and the spinach wilts and it's SO Good. I can give you the recipe for that, a friend from another online group gave it to me, can't take credit for that one:laugh: Even hubby likes it:eek: Good luck with this, and hopefully I'll be joining you soon:p |
I'd like to know about this too....anyone have any recipes/tips? |
A friend of mine only shops the "outer perimeter" of Wal-Mart and at our local health food store. I need to get lessons/tips from her. When/if I do, I will gladly share them!! |
