Experience with Paxil anyone? I was doing well the first week but all of a sudden I'm having chest tightness and worse anxiety attacks than before I started on it. It's only been nine days so I think it's ok to just stop taking it and going back to the Celexa. Anyone with a similar experience with Paxil? My daughter said I should have asked for Zoloft. |
I Think You Need To Call You Doctor That Prescribed The Paxil Before You Stop Taking It. I Believe That Is A Drug Your Body Needs To Be Weaned Off Of. Good Luck In Finding The Right Med For You.;) |
My son had a terrible reaction to Paxil. He ended up having a psychotic episode induced by it. PLEASE call your doctor!! |
My daughter was on that for awhile, she hated it, now she is on lexapro, she has not had any bad side effects. good luck. |
Neither Paxil or Zoloft worked for me, but everyone is different and meds work different ways for different people. Sometimes there is an adjustment period to a med and then the side effects diminish or go away all together. I would call your dr. just to let him/her know what's going on and what you plan on doing - just to be on the safe side. Hope you find one that works for you. :) |
friend of mine used it and it made her gain a lot of weight:eek: |
I wouldn't just change it without speaking with the doctor. My husband was on it and stopped taking it without doctors direction and he became VERY aggitated. |
I have been taking Paxil for several years now, and I have not had any problems at all. I do, however, know of others who cannot take it. I would not just stop taking it. I would call and ask the doctor about it first. You may have to taper off, since it's not a medication that should be just stopped abruptly. It sounds like it's not a good med for you, and it's not unusual to have to try several different ones before finding one that works well for you. Good luck! |
I was on Zoloft at two different times in the past 6 years for General Anxiety. It works, but the unfortunate side effect is weight gain! It is too bad I forgot all about that side effect from 6 years ago when I suggested the doctor give me Zoloft again last year for my Anxiety. I STILL have those 10 extra pounds it gave me within 8 months. Well, on top of the 30 extra pounds I already have. LOL. As I said, Zoloft works...but... anticipate weight gain. Never tried Paxil but I never hear anything good about it. My hubby was on Lexapro for a while and it was good for him. (too bad I didn't suggest I try that one instead of Zoloft.) |
Every medication reacts differently to the one who's taking it. It generally takes 4-6 weeks for the medication to get in your system to see how it will affect you. However, if you feel that it's not working for you because of side effects etc, call your doctor. I've been through Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Amatriphelyne, Celexa, Flucaxamine and finally Well Butrin. I've stayed on Well Butrin because it's the one that's worked best for me. And it's quite common to go through several medications before finding one that works. |

I'm on Zoloft, and have never had a problem. If I forget a pill I don't get any side effects. Granted, I've gained weight, but I'm not sure that's b/c of the Zoloft. Oh, and don't change meds without talking to your doctor. You might have to let the Paxil out of your system before taking the Celexa again. |
