Ebay Sellers!! Ok. I decided to order a few old coins off Ebay, for a christmas present for someone. I ordered around 7 coins. All of the coins except for one had really fast shipping. Normally I paid and I got the coins 3 to 4 days later. Of course a coin is tiny so it can fit in an envelope. Well there was this guy that I purchased a coin from on December 3rd. Well I realized last week that I still hadn't received it so I emailed the seller. He emailed me back and said "Oh do you need it by Xmas." I was so upset. I said "yes, I've ordered coins from others and it took at the most 4 days." He never responded and I didn't get my coin in time for Xmas. :( Anyway, I finally got it this morning. I always leave feedback for everyone I buy from on Ebay. I'm not that mean about it either. I've never given a negative rating. Well I rated this guy as neutral because he had a really descriptive post and he at least emailed me. I didn't think he should have received a positive post when it took him more than 3 weeks to send my item. In the description part, I said he had good communication but slow shipping. Nothing mean or rude. Well I just received an email from him asking why I gave him a negative rating? He also said "does this make you happy? I think its very rude of you to give me a bad rating just because of shipping." I just ignored it and didn't reply because I didnt want conflict, but should I have rated him as positive even though I didnt receive my item on time? I feel so bad now!!:( |
Neutral sounds very fair considering the time frame.....I wouldn't worry about it.... Joyce |
No what you did was fair.Dont worry about it. Sometimes I just dont give a feedback . I bought a dress for Chloe and the send me the wrong one.She still has not replied back yet.:( . The dress she sent me is OK,but its not the same one I ordered. Im going to send a message again and see what happens. |
at the very worst, I leave NO feedback. Sometimes the seller can be very rude. I do not care to have a conflict with someone I do not know even. But a neutral seems fair. It is a shame though, that you did not get it in time for Christmas. |
I think you were fair. Like you, I hate to ruin someone's feedback on a technicality or misunderstanding. But I did leave one "neutral" once too. I think that's fair. It's not negative, and it was really his responsibility to get that out the door. |
I think a neutral was fair enough. Buyers have to remember that not all sellers do eBay as a full time job, but more of a hobby. However, the shipping time did seem somewhat extensive. I only sell on ebay as a hobby so I try to avoid times such as christmas where ppl are on a deadline to get their purchases. |
neutral was definitely fair and your feedback was descriptive and truthful. He shouldn't get a positive when it took that long to ship |
I'd say a neutral was the right choice. I can't believe he took that long to ship it out. Wonder if he forgot and you probably wouldn't have gotten it at all if you hadn't reminded him. I left negative feedback once. I won an auction for a brand new cookie press and bid with the understanding that it was new. I got it and the box looked like it had been run over by a truck. The cookie press was not new...it still had dried on dough from whoever used it before. The instruction/recipe book was full of grease marks. He got really angry with me for the negative feedback, but I was angry because of his false statements in the item description. I didn't use that cookie press...just took one part that I needed to go with my other one and threw the rest away. |
I think your rating was fair. I would report the harrassing email to ebay. It is acceptable to inquire about the transaction, but not to be a jerk about it. I am always afraid to leave neg feed back because people can retaliate and leave neg for you even if you didnt do anything wrong. Ebay doesn't really care. I do think the email you received is a violation of their email policy tho'. |
The rating system is there for a reason. I think you were more than fair. We can't leave ratings based on our "feelings" - it's to let others know the pros and cons of that seller/buyer during that single transaction. I have never left a negative rating either, but I think waiting 3 weeks for a coin would have prompted me to, especially after his "Oh did you want it for Christmas?" remark. I wouldn't give this another thought if I were you. |
We buy things on ebay and I would have have given him a neutral rating too. He did not deserve a positive. If you paid promptly why did he not mail it out asap. I would not feel bad about it. |
I think what you did was more than fair..........especially if you were hoping to have it by Christmas and it never got there........just for that reason alone, (shipping) would have been enough for negative!! If he continues to leave messages......contact eBay support or live chat! |
I would have left a neutral rating as well. If the item takes longer than two weeks for me to receive it, especially when I've paid more than enough in shipping charges for it to be sent priority mail, it is simply not acceptable. Even if they are a hobby seller, once you are paid, you should get that item in the mail within a day. I only allow additional time if the item is coming from overseas, as you never know when you might get it!! |
At least you got your item. I ordered something that got delivered to heaven only knows who. I initiated a claim with paypal and the seller is being a real jerk. |
It sounds like you rated the seller fairly. I would forward the nasty email to ebay customer service along with a note of explaination. There was no cause for the seller to send you an ugly email. |
