Attending Boss' Wedding..... Ok guys this is totally off topic but need some advise... Im attending my boss' wedding on the 16th. I have no clue in what to give as a gift!! EEEEEEK I know its customary to give money but here's my dilema how much mula to give?? What's too much and what's too little??? HELP GUYS ... The wedding reception will be held in a Country Club in Long Island, NY  |
I guess it depends on your budget. When I go to weddings, I usually try to gie $300. My own wedding was about $120 per head. So I give $300 and figure that it's $150 for me and $150 for Jim. I try to cover our cost in a sense. But some people only give $100 or $200. I guess it depends on how close you are to the person. For example, I would give $300 to a friend but when my friend Christine got married, Jim and I gave her $500 because she is a VERY close friend to us. We're godparents to her twin baby girls. My sister is getting married on Sunday and we're giving her $1,000. But it really depends on your budget and how close you are to the person. I hope this helps. Have a great time dancing at the wedding! Which Country Club is he getting married at on LI? My sister is using the Riviera in Brooklyn for her reception. I used the Excelsior Grand on Staten Island for my reception and we got married at the Staten Island Botanical Gardens. |
Oh wow the botanical gardens that must have beautiful. Well hes my boss, I've worked with him for close to 4 years now. I was thinking 300 was pretty good. I just got a dress for the event and im in the search for earrings, shoes and a clutch. Its a big deal b/c we thought he was going to be the quintessential BACHELOR. But the event is almost here. :) Gosh i keep forgetting the name of the place but its also a Golf place... North something keeps popping in my head... My budget isnt too great but i dont want to look cheap :\ so maybe 400... ugh decisions are the worst... |
WOW!! Thats what your guys give for a wedding gift?!? I guess weddings cost ALOT more in NY. I'd go broke giving that much mula for every wedding I attended. |
I think $300 is good. That's what we usually give too. It's so hard when you have to give your boss a gift isn't it? When I worked in Manhattan everyone had to chip in money for the boss for his birthday or something and no one knew what to get him. They ended up getting him a bottle of wine. Jeez! I would never open such an expensive bottle! |
I think there is one called the North Shore Country Club - if that is the one you mean, it's BEAUTIFUL! I've been to weddings there a few times and the food is awesome and the location is stunning! It's very expensive but classy. |
