Sugar cookies Does anyone know how to make good ones? I wanna buy cookie cutters shaped like an xmas tree, snowflakes, etc and also put some type of topping on them, i have no clue what to do! |

They topped some of them with regular frosting, some with sprinkles and colored sugar... some they used those little icing pens and drew faces on... it was fun! We froze half of the dough and only did 50 cookies and the kids & their friends scarfed 'em down already, lol - so we'll be doing the other half this weekend!! |
Melt in your mouth Cutout sugar cookies 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar 1 cup of butter or margarine 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1teaspoon almond extract 2 1/2 cups of unsifted flour 1 teaspoon of baking soda 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar Icing: 2 cups powder sugar 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 egg white pinch of salt 1 teaspoon almond extract food coloring and sprinkles (optional) Directions: combine all ingredients for the cookies. mix well. Chill dough for 2 hours. roll to desired thickness and use favorite cookie cutters. bake in 350 degree oven for 7-10 minutes. ICING: combine all ingredients. it is best to ice the cookies while they are still warm. |
I always just bought the Pillbury Sugar cookie dough...rolled it out flat and cut out he shapes. Then I made icing and decorated the cookies. |

Those recipes are great! I always make mine too...but my DH bought two cookie dough BUCKETS from a guy at work that was peddling :biggrin: for his little boy (school fundraiser)...so, I am going to use it all now and get it out of here! |
I guarantee you will love my sugar cookies! Everyone loves them and always requests them for holidays. The important thing is don't substitute the butter for margarine. I've never tired them with margarine, but I don't think they'd be as yummy. Bet you can't eat just one! Connie's Sugar Cookies 3 cups powdered sugar 2 cups butter 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. almond extract 2 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. cream of tartar 5 cups flour Mix thoroughly. Roll out for cut-out cookies or roll into balls and flatten with glass. Bake about 8 minutes at 350. Frost with Vanilla Butter Frosting: 1/3 cup butter or margarine, 3 cups powdered sugar, 1 1/2 tsp vanilla, 2 Tbsp milk. |
