New Recipe for Ground Beef? I have a roll of lean ground beef.. need to make something for dinner for hubby and me today.. any ideas? |
Baked Ziti, Tacos, Shephards Pie, Chili.....ha, ha...Can you tell I am craving the comfort foods today or what???? :p :p |
I have a girlfriend who does wonder's with chop meat. One thing she does that I enjoy is to make a regular meat loaf receipe but to make the meat loaf into little oval meat balls and fry them up and serve with FF or mashed potatoes and brown gravy. Different but delicious. |
My someday-to-be mother-in-law gave me a easy lasagna recipe. It uses cottage cheese instead of ricotta (is that what's normally used in lasagna?). It's really easy to make and is delicious! If you're interested let me know and I'd be happy to e-mail the recipe to you :) |
What I do thats different & goes over well, brown the ground beef. Then throw in some frozen mixed veggies (the kind with red peppers in it, usually called Fajita veggies or stir-fry veggies) then use your imagination and spice it up however you like, add just a little water. You can also add a box of Vermicelli if you want to add some bulk to it. Then cover with a lid and simmer for about 10-15 minutes til it's hot. I've made this oriental style, mexican style, italian style... just by adjusting the spices I put in. |
Chili, taco's, meat loaf, meatballs, enchilida's, stew.....there are so many ways to cook ground beef!!! Let me know if you want some recipes! |

Fry it up and put it in with some maccaroni and cheese and broccoli and you have the whole meal. ;) This recipe is a favorite with my husband and boys: BEEF AND CHEESE CASSEROLE 1 lb.ground beef 1 (1-lb.) pkg.frozen mixed vegetables 1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix 1 pkg. (at least 8) frozen hash brown patties (plain or cheddar) 1 med.onion, chopped (opt.) 1 pkg. brown gravy mix 1 1/2 c. water 3 c. shredded cheddar cheese Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brown and drain ground beef in a medium large pot. Add 1/3 onion while browning beef. Add frozen vegetables to ground beef. Combine remaining onion, onion soup mix, brown gravy mix and water together. Then add to beef and vegetable mix. Cook on medium heat until vegetables have thawed. Place hash browns side by side in a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish, covering bottom. If plain hash browns are used, then spread 1 cup of cheese over the top of hash browns. Put 1 cup of cheese into beef mixture. Stir until melted. Spread mixture over hash browns and top with remaining cheese. Bake for 30 minutes. |

My friend made this for a get together and I couldn't believe how easy and yummy it is. I have made it...in fact, just last week and it is very good. I can't think of the brand of "dinner in a box" it is...but it is there by the Mac & Cheese aisle. Enchilada's #2 Buy a box of Betty Crocker type(?) dinner in a box for Mexican Taco Bake Dinner(?) Mix as directed, but add 1/2 lb - 1 lb of cooked ground beef. Bake as directed. Once baked, spoon heaping spoonful onto flour tortilla. Roll up. In a 13x9 baking dish, pour in 1 can of enchilada sauce. Take rolled up tortilla shells and roll in sauce, place in dish w/ seam side down. Repeat for all tortilla's. Top w/ 1 can of cheddar nacho cheese sauch. Bake until cheese is melted through. |
My grandmother use to make these....although, I haven't made them... Enchiladas #3 2 cans mild enchilada sauce 2 cans chili (no beans) 1 can cream of mushroom 2lb ground beef 1 onion, chopped 2 pkgs. taco seasoning 12 tortilla shells 1 lb cheddar cheese, grated green onion - for topping Mix sauce, chili and mushroom soup. Simmer . Saute onion w/ ground beef. Drain. Add taco seasoning w/ just a little water. Simmer. Soften tortilla sheets in sauce one at a time, fill w/ meat mix and cheese. Roll up and layer in casserole. Spoon leftover meat mix into sauce and pour over enchilada's. Add grated cheese and bake at 350 until bubbly. Top w/ green onion (optional) This freezes well too....just thaw and bake. |
LAST ONE...... This is an old recipe...but it is good. I think I have made some additions to it when I made it, but I apparently didn't right them down. OLD Enchilada Recipe #4 (good but lots of work) 3 TB oil 1 onion, chopped 1 garlic clove; minced 1 lb. lean ground beef 1 tsp. salt 1 TB chili powser 1 tsp. vinegar 1 tsp. brown sugar 1 can (1lb) kidney beans 10 tortilla shells 2 cans (10oz) enchilada sauce 1 cup grated cheese **Make some white rice too** Heat 1TB oil in large skillet. Add onion and garlic. cook until tender. Add beef, stirring with a fork to break up meat. Cook until browned. Add salt, chili powder, vinegar, and brown sugar. Mix to blend. Cook for a few minutes. Stir in beans and simmer until heated thru. Preheat oven to 375. Heat remaining oil in a skillet. Fry tortillas one at a time for a few seconds...remove and drain. Mix in cooked rice. Place about 1/3 cup filling in center of each tortilla. Roll up and fasten w/ toothpicks (optional). Place seam side down in a 13x9 pan. Spoon sauce evenly over tortilla's. Sprinkle w/ cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until heated thru. |
