I need a good recipe For pecan bars! My "friend" in Idaho wants some cookies for christmas. Well he wanted a pecan pie but I knew that would't ship well. I tried making some pecan tartlets, but they turned out GROSS! So I was thinking I could do pecan bars. It has to be without Chocolate cause even the smell of chocolate makes him sick. :thumbdown The one in my Paula deen cook book has cake mix in it, and I don't want to go to the grocery store. Surely there is some kind of pecan bar recipe without chocolate and without cake mix. |
I think now, you can buy a box mix with everything in it for pecan bars. Plain ol pecan bars.....crust, pecan filling and topping, etc. That might be an option. I don't know what brand they are, but I have seen them on the cake mix aisle. |
I looked thru my recipes and I couldn't find one...but I know I have one because I made them before. Anyway, I called my MIL...she is the one who "discovered" the box mix for these last year (and they are yummy). Anyway, she said the name is Krusteaz and they have the "everything in the box" mix for the pecan bars and lemon squares; which both are good. I think she said they were only $3 a box and I think she said they made 12 bars. |
Thanks Jenn! I decided there was enough in his box.. spritz cookies, key lime cookies, sniker doodles, cheese straws, Lady fingers, haystacks, pralines, and a couple other things. I'll check out the box one and make those for my family for Christmas eve! |
Sounds like a yummy box! :dribble: I am sure he will love receiving it! |
I just hope it still taste good when it gets there! It would have been much better if he could eat chocolate all my really ymmy recipes have chocolate in them!:D |
