ehh im not worried about it but just wanted to look it up. but as yall said there are so many different kinds so hard to know. thanks yall!!!! |
There are all kinds of chemical imbalances. I have a chemical imbalance of the brain and have bipolar disorder. I would talk to the doctor that said you had a chemical imbalance. |
Bi-Polar is definitely caused by a chemical imbalance and is EXTREMELY hereditary. There's a great website called BiPolarhappens.com. if this is what you've been diagnosed with, it's very informative and helpful for you and your family/loved ones. |
She said that her chemic imbalance was detected AT BIRTH. Most bi-polar diagnosis initially come from certain behavior. Hers came from blood tested at birth. I don't think anyone was implying bi polar was Not a chemical imbalance |
Hi, I sent you a private message. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1991. Its quite managable with the right medication. There is still such a stigma with it. Really sad. It does run in families. Once I dug deep enough, I found which side of the family it comes from. When elders say "she was in a mental institution for a nervous breakdown" thats the side it come from, lol. They called them "nervous breakdowns" many years back. I do quite well on medication. My medication keeps my "brain" in tune and has since 1991. Please read your pm's as I sent you a link to a great website there. You get a lot of support there, and learn a lot too. Good luck with this. As that first year or so can really be rough trying to learn all we can about it. The more you learn, the better equipped you will be to fight it. |
Txgirl Please let me apologize for the entire thread. I think many here have misunderstood your question. Please know that most of us know that the chemical imbalance you inquired about was AT BIRTH. ONE PERSON I believe did not read you original question so this thread spiraled out of control in support of those people who have bipolar disorder. YOU have never been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I invite everyone to re-read her question ;) |
My apologies for not reading your question throuoghly. When I saw "chemical imbalance" I assumed it was bipolar. I'm really sorry, and didn't mean for you to think you could have bipolar disorder at birth! Although they are diagnosing a bit younger than they did in the 60's, I've never heard of them to daignose it at birth! I'm so sorry, and I do hope you accept my apologies. If I were you, I'd talk to the doctor that diagnosed you. Find out what "type" of chemical imbalance he/she is talking about. If your not having any symptoms, I really wouldn't think its anything to worry about. But I'd see what type it is if its really bothering you. But please don't assume it was bipolar! I've never heard of anyone being diagnosed of that at birth. There is no "blood test" for it. They diagnose that on symptoms still right now. My apoligies again, for not reading your entire post. |
