Any Imsomniacs here?? (Restoril ?'s) What do you take to help you sleep? My doc put me on Restoril today because the Ambien CR quit working and Rozeram is like placebo for me. Also Trazadone does nothing. I took the 15mgs of Restoril at 9pm and here it is 12:20 am and I feel nothing.:( Not even the least bit tired:confused: Ughhh I hate having insomnia:( Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As I am lucky to be asleep by 3-4am every night :( |
Im the same way. Im up all night. I dont take any thing for ir, everyone tells me I need to. |
How long have you had insomnia? Do you wake up early and stay up all day? Sometimes I get insomnia for awhile and I get into this pattern where I will stay up late and sleep late in the morning, then I started waking up early and I would not take a nap all day and eventually I started sleeping all night. Exercise helps greatly. Reduce caffiene. Also, benadryl 50mg works great for me. Good luck and good night...;) |
i have the same problem!! i have had back problems for over a year now..and i think that has alot to do with it!! (i never used to be this way!!) it is the most annoying thing not being able to sleep..especially when you have to get up for work the next morning!! i def. understand what you guys are talking about!! -i havent taken anything for it yet either.. but i need to get in to see my doctor-cuz its ridiculous!! (im nervous to take ambien.. only cuz of the weird side effects that i have heard about..like the sleep walking and doing things you dont know you did!! ?? so im curious too Erin!;) |
Well i am up by 6:45a, Mon-Fri to get the kids ready and take them to school. No naps during the day, no time for that, lol! Except Sat & Sun. Then my DH is home and can get up w/ the kiddos. I get sleep till about 9am. I guess I should add I have RLS. Also since my motorcycle accident in 1994 i have terrible leg/hip pain. But I am on the Fentynal patch and Percocet for those issues. Also I take a blood pressure med daily and take Ativan prn. Now the Restoril. You would think with that kind of med cocktail I would sleep non-stop, lol! But unfortunately that's not the case. :( |
I'm up! |
nothing was working for me.. but then the doc my hubby and i work in, he's awesome.. he prescribed me ambien 10mg, and told me to take it with benedryl and it puts me to bed LOL |
I don't have insomnia but since my husband died I have a terrible time getting and staying asleep - my doctor gave me a month's worth of Lunesta (it's expensive !) and it really helped - after the 1st week though it does take longer to fall asleep but works great for 4-5 hours - It's been the only thing thats worked for me - You can always ask for samples so you can try something 1st. |

What worked for me beautifully was Prosom (estazolam). I never had to take it every single night for a really extended time, so I never became to "tolerant" of it. I would often have 2 weeks of terrible insomnia - so I'd take it then - and then I'd eventually be able to sleep on my own again, so I'd be off of it. Other stretches of time - I'd take it on average about 3-4 nights a week, and not need it the other nights. Really odd, but it worked for me. Good luck - true insomnia that drags on is really quite tortuous, so I hope you find something that works. |
I started taking melatonin (i think it's 300 mcg) about an hour b/f bed & it has really helped! you can get it over the counter at walmart!! |

then i can fall asleep faster! If you find a better solution, I'd love to know ... good luck! |

Oh I forgot to tell you that there is a sleeping pill that I got over the counter at walmart, generic brand, they were little blue pills, I can't remember the name or the active ingredient but it the one that is not diphenhydramine, there are 2 different ones, one with diphenhydramine and the other one-its the othe one...it works great, maybe too great, I didn't want to wake up... |

I've tried them all. He has me on Restoril right now. Most nights it works for a couple of hours....if I take a xanax about 7. I've even been for a sleep study and totally confused them too. I have RLS so take requip for that. It helps some but I still can't sleep all night. Lately I've been trying to sleep in my recliner....doesn't work either. Lunesta left an awful aftertaste. Maybe I should just drink myself into a stuper.....but I haven't found much that I like:D |
