Anyone else had a PT scan? Or does anyone know anything about PT scans? I have to go in and get one done on Thursday and im really kind of nervous cause i read that they have to put in an IV? is that true? I dont want to go and do this :( so scared. |
i hope everything is ok, i have never had one and i would also be nervous. if i am not mistaken, if you are very nervous, they can medicate you to calm you down |
Jaime, I've had a couple - and, lived ;). Seriously, here's info for PET scan. Try not to get too worked up about it, and it'll be over before you know it. |
What's a PT scan? I've had Cat-scans, MRI's..and the ones where they inject you with the dye. if it's anything like any of those maybe I can help you. I hope all goes well. |
oh yeah i guess it is called a CT scan not a PT scan lol i get them so confused... everythings alright I just get a lot of headaches lately and they just want to make sure that everythings alright up there. |
They don't always use the dye. I've had one with the dye and one without. Without is easy because you just lay there and listen to the instructions. You hold your breath for a few seconds and it scans you. No big deal. However, honestly, the dye is horrible - for about 30 seconds. You feel like you are going to get sick but you won't. You'll get through it I promise. It is just a terrible feeling when they shoot it in but you just have to tell yourself that it will be over fast. You feel 100% back to normal in just a minute or two. Also, I'm good with pain but not with nausea. So, I really didn't take it well but I promise it really is over in *seconds* and you feel better right away. Oh, if they don't use dye they don't use an IV. IV's on the other hand are no big deal. Once they are in you don't really feel them. Trust me, I've had a lot of those! |
I had a Ct scan and An MRI and both were no problem, Over really quick, no IV was needed. They were both of my head. Don't worry it will be fine, I ma a big baby when it comes to medical procedures. |

Trust me the anticipation is worse than the actual procedure. You will be fine.... I promise. :) |
I also had a cat scan a few months ago for kidney issues and Ididn't have an IV for that either. I promise you thye are nothing, hardest part is not breathing for a few seconds when they tell you not to breathe. |

I have had both as well, and my experiences were the same. The dye/radiation one, I could feel it burn all the way thru my body, it seemed. The tech said that I would, but I didn't know what to expect. Also, I had just had my ears re-pierced and I had to take those out and my ponytail because of the metal....no one told me that before hand! Hope all is well! |
thank you all for the encouraging words and prayers and all the helpful information. I dont feel as nervous now. I also talked to the nurse to make sure i didnt have to have an IV and she said that I wouldnt need one so thats good. And I also found out from her that I can eat whenever I want not just a small amount for breakfast like how it said on the sheet. thats a relief i wont be so cranky than tomorrow probably. |
