Ouch! Any advice? I am having the WORST lower back pain. This is a new thing for me, I don't normally have back pain. Does anybody have home remedies, stretches, etc...that help? |
It's always a good idea to go to a doctor with back pain. The best thing that can happen is that the doc will refer you to physical therapy. I suffered with lower back pain for a year before giving up and going to the doctor - who promptly referred me to physical therapy. A couple of months of PT and I was sooo much better and have been really good for the last 1 1/2 year. My therapists used the McKenzie system, a group of exercises targeted at the back. You can buy the book, "Treat Your Own Back" by Robin McKenzie. I loaned the book to my friend's husband last year and he followed the exercises and did not go to the doctor, and his back responded well to the exercises. Please know though, that I am not recommending that you NOT go to the doctor! Good luck! I know that back pain is very hard to deal with! |
oh I'm sorry! I don't really know what to tell you. =( we have a chiropractor that comes to our house every week...we've been seeing him for years. You might look into getting one! Good luck! feel better! |
i just got out of physical therapy for my lower back and am going in for my neck (i get out and go right back in it seems like) due to an accident I have some streches that she gave me that worked very well for me that you could do until you get to the doctors. would you like me to scan them and send them to your e-mail? |
i have no advise but feel your pain. i have suffered from lower back pain since the birth of my son 13 years ago. they say i have a pinched nerve. |
2 Attachment(s) here i scanned them and ill try to post them on here if you want them. if you save them you can probably like zoom with some program to be able to see what it is saying |

I live on ibprofren. Start with 800 milligrams and take 600 every 5 hours for the rest of the day. My doc said my backs just shot, the chiropractor loves me, Im in there weekly. Be careful how you sleep, youd be surprised how good sleeping correctly can help. |
Just a thought...are you possibly menstruating? I always get lower back pain just before my period. Sorry if that's an awkward convo! :p |
I'm sorry you're in so much pain, I cut hair practically on a hardwood floor all day so I know where you are coming from But laying all that aside you really do need to go to the doctor most of the time w/mine it's a nasty kidney infection (to many cokes & coffee:) but if it's work related I use theragesic cream & those heat-activated pads from wal/mart or a good ol' heating pad! I hope you get to feeling better soon!! |
Hi just a clarification on the med ibuprofen.1600mg is the max u can take daily without causing organ damage. You can try sleeping with a couple of pillows under your knees. This elongates your spine so things can fall in to place. Works for me. If pain persists or if u have tingling or numbness u really need to see a MD! Goog luck |
Ahhh...I guess it's off to the doctor office tomorrow. I can't even stand upright. I am a teacher and my kids were giggling at me shuffling around the classroom. Thanks for the advice. I'm off to bed with my heating pad! |
Ug, I'm feeling ya, I had to carry Abby (80lbs) up the stairs Saturday and then I was cleaning. I was a little sore but didn't think anything of it until I sneezed on Sunday and hit the floor from the pain. I ended up coming home from work Monday afternoon and was doing ok, I did heat pad on my back. About 3:30am Tuesday I thought I was dying, worse then child birth. I don't have insurance or anything so I haven't made it to the doc yet. I've had problems off and on for awhile and the pain meds work and physical therapy is good too. I've just never been disciplined enough to stay with it. Best wishes, I hope you feel better soon. |
I know exactly how you feel. I live in pain. i was born with spina bifida scoliosis and when i was 16 i had my first back surgery. they put in rods in my upper back and then my 2nd surgery they put rods and screws in my lower back. to help keep my spine straight. well over the years my back is leaning forward. the doctor that did the surgery was a children's doctor. i seen several other doctors but they said theres nothing else that can be done i go to a pain management doctor now.. im on pain medicine and they give me pain patches. the patches really help I hope it goes away and you feel better soon! |
