In 24 hours I became Noah's Ark The last 24 hours have been an eventful one to say the least. Last night with the help of fellow YT'rs (which I really can't say THANK YOU enough to) found a a teapot sibling for Chip, who will be arriving on Thursday:) :) :) I'm still reeling with so much excitement, I can hardly contain it LOL! Then this morning at 7:30 am someone rings my doorbell, I'm like who the **** could that be at this time???? It was my neighbor down the street, she said there is a cat lying in her driveway and she thinks its injured. So I'm like OK! I'll be there in a few minutes. I wake Bf up, he's not fully awake yet but goes to the garage to get the cat trap. I get a towel, cat carrier, and a can of cat food and head on over to her house. I've seen this cat around the neighborhood before, and I don't think it belongs to anyone. The poor kitty was lying in the driveway and meowed at me, when I approached it the cat ran away. It was obvious it was injured either in the leg or back. Well it wasn't injured enough since it managed to run away from me and I had to chase it down through 4 of my neighbors yards until I caught it. I managed to bundle it up in a towel so it wouldn't be able to bite or scratch me and put it in the carrier. We then headed over to the SPCA, by that time it was 8:00 and they don't open until 9. Ok, so plan B! My vet is located down the street and I knew they opened early. I frantically explained the whole situation, and they took the cat to the back. One of the Doctors finally came in and tried to examine the cat. It turns out to be a female, but they needed my permission to admit her as a 'stray' under my name so they can sedate her and examine her. I personally think the cat had an open wound because of the smell, but I'm still waiting for the Vet to call. I will post updates when I get them. |
So the Vet called, they took x-rays and didn't find any broken bones. The cat isn't able to get up so she does think that it has some kind of spinal chord injury. They are giving her some steroids to see if that helps, if not she will be put down.:( |
aww gra!!! keep us updated!! |
Gosh, I hope the steroids help, poor thing. I hate it when animals are hurt or sick, strays or well-cared for. It just breaks my heart that any of God's creatures have to suffer. Prayers on their way to this little girl. |
aww gray what a wondrful thing you did. Keep us up dated on what you find out. |

I am happy you are getting Chip a playmate. How sweet of you to help that cat. Hopefully they can maker her better if not you saved it from a possible long and painful death or being preyed upon my another animal. |
Aww, i hope everything works out for her.. it was so nice of you to catch her and take her to the vet :) |
Bless you and your BF for helping that poor cat. I do hope the steroids do their job and the poor thing can find a loving home. Congratulations on your new arrival. How wonderful. |
awwww well you did a nice thing, the cat will not suffer. Thats a blessing for him im sure. I hope he gets btter but if not i am glad to see you helped him not to be in pain. |
I hope she's ok. You're a very special person for caring enough to do all this for her. Are you going to keep her if she's ok? |
:congrats:Congrats on the new "teapot"!!!! :bravo: for taking care of that poor cat....please keep us posted!!! |
The Vet called yesterday while I was on my way up to NY. Turns out the cat was completely blind, and could no longer move her back legs. They think she had a spinal lesion as a result of an infectious disease, possibly rabies. The Vet immediately asked if she bit or scratched me, I told her 'no' and that I was very careful when I caught her with the towel and made sure she couldn't get me. She said the cat had a healthy appetite, but the food had to be moved towards her. Even though she was a stray, treatment for her issues would of been very costly and probably ineffective. Then she concluded she would be better off euthanised, since she wouldn't have a good quality of life. I agreed:cry: eventhough its not my cat I still felt sad. So they fed her one more good meal before they put her down. Overall its better that way since she doesn't have to suffer anymore. |
Whether the baby was your cat or not that is still the hardest decision to make. All I can say is that she is now able to see and walk again and she will always feel that she belongs and is loved |
ohh I'm so sorry about the cat. You did all you could, and that's what's important. The cat is not suffering anymore now. RIP cat Congrats on your new baby |
