The video wont work but I have seen the northern lights from time to time in my little part of Canada..and they are AWESOME..I cant imagine how grand they must be in Alaska!! Dawn |
I would love to see a video of them. |
The only time that I saw them was down by the Michigan/Indiana state line in late Dec of 1977. It was magnificent. One of those moments that you'd always remember. |

ooo--that would be a good challenge of Mike's cinematic skills. I am sure he is up to the task! Get out that tripod and get to work, Mike! |
It worked for me. It's just one of the most amazing wonders of the world..i would love to see it one day, it's fascinating. |
Here are some other videos for those that couldn't open that one: http://www.santatelevision.com/north...606/en0606.htm They are absolutely amazing! I saw a shooting star for the first time on Saturday and I thought THAT was cool! I couldn't imagine seeing something like this! |
I am from Fairbanks and I can tell you they are amazing regardless of how many 1000 of times I saw them. There were nights that we would drive up in the mountains where the lights from town were dim and just sit in the car and watch them for hours. I miss it~ |
Ahhhh Alaska how I miss you so. That is on my top 5 of things I miss the most. We used to tell people that were looking at the Northers Lights for the first time that if you clap they will dance for you, so here we are standing around a bunch of clapping dummies laughing our heads off in the snow! If you ever get the chance it is one of the most beautiful things to experience hands down! |
That was amazing! Just awesome! |
Thanks for the links..............I wish I could see them...some day...some day I will! Someone once told me that you could catch glimpses of them even in the northern US.....I don't know if that is true or not. My grandmother has seen them and she said that sometimes, they make noises ??? |

I want to go see them someday. :) They are so beautiful. When my little cousin found out that Rusty was moving to Alaska, all he kept saying was "He can see the Northern Lights now!" haha he's so obsessed with them. :p |
I was lucky enough to see them one time here in NE PA. At the time I was alone, driving up in the hills on a lonely dirt road late at nite and they scared the holy beejeepers out of me. The were shades of pink. I would love to see them again. They were absolutely beautiful. |
The Northern lights are beautiful!! We can get good views of them up here in Northern Minnesota. I can just imagine how beautiful and awesome they must look from Alaska!!! |

Thank you Denise for that walk down memory lane for me. I lived in Alaska many years ago when my father was in the service and we were were lucky enough to view them many times before we left for the lower 48. Truly, one of the most beautiful things to see in the world. |
