I really need cat litter help! I have issues! I have to keep a box in my guest bathroom because Courtney decided she doesn't want to go all the way downstairs when the carpet is right up stairs and just as good. ARGH! So I'm accomadating her with another litter box upstairs so miss princess doesn't have to go downstairs. Well...IT STINKS!!! Whats the best cat litter to get that WILL CONTROL THE ODOR????? Nothing I'm buying is working. I can't stand it!!! it smells soooooo bad! |
cat litter help Hi, I recently switched to a corn product litter, worlds best litter. Balony! It beads up the urine but does nothing for the other. OMGoshhh was it horrendous. I went back to tidy cat multiple kitty litter. Sometimes kitties will go elsewhere if they have urinary troubles, have kitty checked just to rule that as a possibility. Lots of luck :) |
I use Feline Pine and you wouldn't even know I have a litter box! It is more expensive but so worth it (less odor, ecofriendly, less tracking, etc)! They say it lasts for 2 weeks but I have to change mine once a week. If you go to their website you can get a coupon for a free bag. |

I use Fresh Step...and it really works for us.:) |
I have tried several cat litters if not all, including all the natural cat litters like Feline Pine and others. The one that I have found to work the best so far is Fresh Step Dual Action Crystals with Odor Eliminating Carbon. It works great, it really keeps the smell down. I have 3 cats using the same litter box so I have to have it smelling good and this is the best one I have found yet. I think it is the carbon in it that really helps. You should give it a try. |
I think the pine litter keeps the smell to a minimum. Don't know if it's scoopable thow. |

I use Nature's Miracle Cat litter. It is made from corn cobbs and has the Nature's Miracle enzymes in it. It is clumping and 100% flushable. So far I have really liked it. It lasts a long time too. I have two cats and always scoop at least twice a day, but if I can smell that they have pooped I will scoop it right then too. Unless they have just pooped or the litter is old and needs to be changed, it doesn't stink to me. |
I use Scoop Away ordor control and love it! |
we use arm & hammer works well we have 3 cats |
I like Fresh Step the best of all the scoopable litters that I've tried. Do you scoop the box every day? I don't know that I've really noticed much difference in keeping the odor away, but I don't really notice that much odor from mine and I've got a BIG box with 2 cats that use it. I don't THINK it's b/c I'm used to having cats, although it may be, but they have their own room and the litter box is in their bathroom and I don't really notice it when I am in there. I scoop it religiously EVERY morning though and sometimes in the evening too, then just add more litter. |
I think maybe because its in a small space? I just cant' stand the smell and I do scoop it. I'll have to try a few more.... |
Breny~ I used to keep my cat's litter box in the bathroom next to the toilet in my apartment (b/c that was the only logical place for it), and didn't have any smell issues. Supposedly, using baking soda in the litter helps too, but I'm not sure if it really does or not. I know how you feel though; you don't want people walking into your home and sniffing and saying "there's a catbox here somewhere" . You might try the crystals; I just haven't b/c they seem more expensive to me and we have to watch our pennies these days:cool: . |
I use the cheap Walmart one - Special Kitty. Works as good as the more expensive ones. I've tried them all. I even bought a bag of outlandishly priced super-crystals - they won't even set foot in the box. It was never used. I tried the pearls. They worked the best for odor and cleaning, but the pearls stuck to their paws and I had little pee-filled pearls all over the house. Step on a few of them and out go the pearls and back comes the Special Kitty. Trust me, my 2 cats have the most functional digestive systems ever! That's why Roxy and Remi are constantly cleaning their tushes for them:rolleyes: . |
Well I went at lunch and bought the fresh step with carbon. We;ll try it and see! They didn't have the scoopable pine. |
