**A Terrifying WARNING for ALL** Just wanted to share a story with everyone about something that happened in my neighborhood yesterday. I live in a neighborhood (large 700+ homes) yet everyone always seems to know everyone else. In my cul-de-sac of garden homes, we all frequently meet in a yard or street for general chit chat with one another. Half of us just walk into one another's homes, we have keys to each other's houses and have installed gates in between the fences in our yards just so we don't have to bother with walking aaaaalllll the way around. I've never thought twice about sending my 6yo daughter to the neighbors for a few eggs or to find out what they want to cook out for supper. That is the kind of neighborhood I live in. Until today when that all was shattered and we realized we'd all let our guard down big time. Yesterday around 6:30, a child was snatched from their front yard by a stranger! The other end of the neighborhood, but still, in MY NEIGHBORHOOD. The kid was playing and the parents walked to the back to get something. In that short time, a man pulled up, grabbed the kid, threw them in the car and started off. A neighbor who was outside a few doors down saw this, heard the kid scream and started out in middle of the street in front of the car. The car slowed enough to keep from hitting the man and when it did, the child was able to open the door and escape to safety with the neighbor. Thank God! So this is just a reminder and word of caution. I guess we all let our guard down and forgot that there are bad guys out there! It only takes a second for a child (or dog) to get grabbed and made off with. PLEASE be aware of where your kids and dogs are, reaffirm with your children how to handle this type of situation and don't let this happen to you! |
OMG thats terrible!! |
  :mad:   Thank God, the child got out  because if she hadn't, she'd have never been seen or heard from alive again. That is a brutal wake up call for all of us. I'm so sorry for your loss--the loss of a feeling of security. And damn the wretched creature who almost made it so much worse! :thumbdown |
I have was always called over protective with my daughter (21 yrs old now) and now called the same with Gypsy. Reports like this just prove you can't be too protective. |
Oh wow... Im so sorry this happened! That poor child! Luckily that neighbor saw and was brave enough to step in the road in front of the car. He really saved that child!!! I live in a condo (townhouse) complex with about 300+ townhouses, same thing, we are a little community, everyone watches out for everyone and we all are very friendly to each other, doing favors and stuff. Last week when I got home there was a notice on my door was the condo association. A little boy of about 11 years old was walking through the grass from one branch of the condos to another, when a suped up decked out car with 3 boys in it (age 17 - 20) came over and one got out and attacked this little boy, beat him up and then they drove off. WHO would do that???? This world makes me so sad sometimes! The police sent a notice to everyone to report the car if they see it again in the neighborhood or if they recognize who the kids were to call the police. Its just so sad! |
Thak god the child got away and thank god for the neighbor that stopped the car.... . Did the police get the guy? |
OMG!! that is so scary, what is today's world coming to? thank god someone saw him & she was able to escape. My ten year old just doesn't understand why I make him come to the womens bathroom with me even at wal-mart I get the rolling eyes & mooom thing from him but I just dont care!!! my heart skipped a beat when I read that, I fully believe in neighborhood watch & I would definately be having a meeting with everyone from your little community, he probably had been scoping it out for awhile-not to scare you. Glad all is well. |

Thank God you live in a neighborhood that CARES! In a lot of places that little girl would have been gone, because no one would have cared or tried to stop the man from taking her. I see so many children not being looked after in this area. People will drop their little ones off at Blockbuster and pick them up later. I worked at Cracker Barrel and people let their little ones loose in the gift shop while they are eating. It always scares me because you never know who's around and your children are the most precious things in the world, why would anyone take that chance with them. Thanks for telling, it never hurts to be reminded that children are vunerable and there's no safe place for them to be alone. |
Thanks to God that they didn't get the child. Who knows what could have happened. It makes you want to hold your loved ones close. |
Thanks goodness the child got away and thankfully the neighbor was outside to help! |
That is horrible, thank god the child is safe, it could have been such a terrible outcome. Very, very Scary ! |
Thank God! Shewwww! that was a close call. I too watch my DGD walk from my house to her house and she is in my yard...but you never know when someone is hiding and waiting. I saw a show where they saw it as a sport...the hunting for the right child and waiting and all. That is one blessed little child and family!!! |
Oh my goodnes..what a horrible thing to go through! That poor little girl..thanks GOD she was able to get away! There is no telling what would have happened to her! |
It was a little boy (not that it matters) only 7 years old playing with his 7 year old friend in the front yard... |
