Hi Gina, I know. What ever he gets should make a big impression on others in this country holding dog fights. This judge is supposed to be tough, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

yorkiekids and shelscharder if you hear or anyone else please post the info, I agree with you both. I hope he gets the max but I don't think he will get 5 yrs.

I just heard the verdict on the news and I don't think any of them got near enough. I suppose they'll get out early with 'good time' too.

He better not get out early is right!! But if he does he still has another court date to deal with that will end up giving him more time. :) If he were let out early there would be such an uproar from all of us in this country.

I'm glad that the Falcons asked for his multiple million signing bonus back. He is a disgrace not only to the NFL but to himself and everyone else.

Gina, I hear the San Diego Chargers almost went with him but instead went with that wonderful star that goes by two initials (darn can't think right now) but there was a segment on 60 min. yesterday about how great he is ON AND OFF THE FIELD.

That would be LT, he's a wonderful guy. Our son has met him a few times. Super nice guy, with a heart of gold. ;)

You do not get credit the same way you do in state prisons for good time, time served, etc. He will stay the entire 23 months, and if not just under that!

I am pleased with the sentence, because although it was not the maximum I expected him to get less...But really he has gotten a fair sentence in my opinion because his life was basically been flushed down the toilet. He will inevitably have to forfeit all his personal property, he will never play in the NFL again, anything that made Michael Vick special is now gone, and he will have to think about how he tossed it all away for the rest of his life.

=/ Its good that he was charged and is going to prison, but I wish it had been a longer term. For crying out loud, if he had done this to humans he'd already have the needle in his arm. But because they're 'just dogs' it doesn't matter as much.

Either way, its good that justice was - at least partly - served.

They were talking on the local radio today that he could have gotten less time, but the judge was very displeased with the fact that Vick had gotten caught smoking marijuana (and lied about it) and had failed a lie detector test.

I am personally surprised that he got the sentence of 23 months (although he deserved more). The thing is, there is a possibility he will play somewhere again. Some desperate team may pick him up if he is still in good shape when he gets out!

I hope he means what he says in this letter too but like you say some things are rather hard to believe but I want to believe.
