Vitamin/Supplement Questions What is the best vitamin to take?? What does everyone take? I am taking Centrium Complete (I think) and was wondering if the generic brand was just as good? Or if the One a Day complete was just as good - as they are cheaper. Also, my daughter is taking a One-a-day Teen formula, but couldn't see take the same has mine? She is needing more iron and B12. Supplements: I am waiting to up my B12.....what milligram is good? I have some that are 100mg a day...but seen there are 500mg and 1000mg. Also there is a new B12 that you dissolve in your mouth...anyone try those? Last one....... What supplements do you take in conjunction with your multi-vitamin (or do you not take any or not take a vitamin)?? We are looking to revamp and get the much needed nutrients we need. THANKS!! |
I've just recently started taking One a Day all day energy. Holy cow! It really works for me. I have so much energy! It has 200% of all of the Bs. I haven't felt this good since... well I don't know. I haven't seen the teen formula. Our daughters are the same age. Mine can't swallow pills yet so I get a chewable teen formula at GMC and she says they taste awful. Are the One a Days for teens smaller than an adult vitamin? I think she could swallow a small tablet but my vitamins are HUGE! |
Ha  My daughter use to be the same way...but somewhere along the way, she started to swallow pills, thank goodness!!! Whew! I just looked, hers are One Source Teen's and they aren't small... They aren't the huge "horse pills", but they are big. --Like a gel cap, but alittle longer and wider. It says Iron 18 mg Daily Value 100% B12 8mcg Daily Value 133% I am going to look at the One A Day Energy...that is what I need! I wonder if you can take an extra B12 along with it? |
When do you take your vitamin?? My parents always take theirs at lunch......I use to always take mine in the morning, but with some new medicine, the doctor said to take my vitamin at night (because I couldn't take it with my medicine). Just getting an idea of when the best time would be. THANKS! |
I take mine at night also ... my doctor said that is best also .. and you should take Citracal to prevent low bone density or eat a lot of broccoli and dairy foods ... |

I take that too! Well, used to..I need to get some more. I love it as well! I usually took it in the morning so I could be more alert in the mornings to start off my day! |
I take One Source the Complete supplement for adults. I take this in the a.m once a day. I am over 50 so I take 1200mg of Calcium a day (I take 2 pills, one in the a.m and one in the p.m.) I also take 500mg of Magnesium a day (2 pills, same as calcium). I also take Estroven, extra strength in the a.m. I have elected to NOT be on Hormone Therapy. That's all I take, but I am considering taking a cinnamon supplement as directed by Dr. Mehmet Oz. I take the calcium and magnesium as he has directed also. OH, I almost forgot. I take 250mg of Chronium also. He recommends this too. That's it. |

Congrats on NOT doing the Hormone Therapy...I have several friends studying at the Institute of the National Association of Certified Natural Health Professionals and are Certified Nutritional Counselors.....they highly recommend more natural and safe alternatives to a lot of things!! I am finding it VERY interesting!!! What did Dr. Oz say about the cinnamon supplement??? Does he have a site? I know he is on Oprah a lot. |

I found out that I am lactose intolerant...so most dairy foods are out...but I did find that cheddar cheese is okay, as it is stated to be about 99% lactose free...and I do the soy milk...and I can still do some yogurts! |
I need to start my daughter on my vitamins...I think she is needing more iron....she sometimes gets weak and pale...and the last time I spoke with her nurse, she said that is probably what she needed. She said it was okay for her to take any vitamin...but I just didn't know...course, being a nurse, I know that she knew what she was talking about! |

Here is an article on it at: http://www.realage.com/ct/tips/20_11_2006. it basically turns on insulin receptors to help the body use glucose. This helps the body from keeping too much glucose in the bloodstream. His site iw www.realage.com |
Thanks for that information! I think I have heard this before.........I heard something about sprinkling it on toast, in yogurt, etc. Hey, I wonder if you eat cookies w/ cinnamon baked in them, if that counts too?!!! hee,hee |
