Here we go again! Tropical Storms & Hurricanes heading for Gulf Coast Well . . . today and tonight, we're in the midst of a tropical storm -- this one's name is Cindy. Just some wind and rain but still the possibility that it may reach minimal hurricane strength (74 mph) before the eye hits our coast. I'm in northern Lafourche Parish - right above Terrebonne Parish and the Barataria and Atchafalaya Basins. It appears that Debbie - the new storm not quite in the Gulf has its eyes on our coastline too. My stepson's wedding is on July 15th and my daughters, grandbabies and Cooper are supposed to be flying in on the 13th for the wedding. Rain, rain go away!! Is Louisiana going to be to hurricanes this year what Florida was last year? Hope everyone nearby survives these two! I know there are quite a few of us along the coastline between here, Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida panhandle. |
!!! A tropical storm... thank God we don't get any of them in Britain!!! And no hurrricanes either, phew. It's just raining at the moment... |
oh my im not good with storms i pray that everyone is gonna be ok |
Why did that message just post twice? I have no idea, sorry about that. |
well, maybe it will send some rain our way. I was here for Claudette  I was such a nervous wreck, I was breaking out in hives. |
I was listening to GMA this morning and them talking about these storms. I believe they said "Cindy" is to hit Wednesday but don't quote me on that. The forces of nature sure know how to cause havic at times, ugh!! Hopefully the sun will be shining by the time you see your stepson's wedding. |
I usually leave for hurricanes if it appears they are going to hit us. Being a licensed insurance agent (a profession I choose not to have anymore because of working hurricane claims), I've seen firsthand the devastation that can be caused by the storm surge. Most people have no clue what type of devastation will happen to our community if we take a direct hit. With the wedding coming up next week, the timing of the next storm will be very critical! If this is a strong storm coming up the pike, I will want to leave but know I'll have to wait until the last moment. I pray for my stepson and his fiance's sake that the storm doesn't hit here in the time frame of the wedding. I'll take our lumps if it is our time, I just hope it doesn't interefere with the wedding and the year it took to plan it all out! As for Cindy, we've been having squally weather here all morning. yuck! |
Wow... I live in Florida and we have had a few rainstorms and high winds for the past couple of days and I live on the east coast of Flordia. And it is hurricane season...Just hope everyone is all right. Because last year it was terrible when hurricane season came. |
I'll keep you guys in my prayers. With an upcoming wedding, that is the last thing you need. Not to mention all of the other people living in that area that this is going to effect. |
If there was any way at all, I would harness the storm and bring it to drought stricken Texas. We are past hurting for rain, we are now dying. |
I live in Florida as well, praying for no hurricanes this year! |
I grew up in Charleston, SC - so I know ALL ABOUT hurricanes, haha!!! Whew, it's a wild ride. I live in TN right now, but my husband and I hope to move back to Charleston in September - so "here we go again" LOL. |
Hey Carter's Mom, I hope the storms somehow lose strength and don't hit you guys too hard. I'll be praying for that. Weddings require so much planning and expense. I hope things turn out well for all of you. Keep us updated! |
I hope everything turns out allright - weddings are stressful enough not to have to add in a hurricane! :-) One of my best friends, Rita, had to MOVE her wedding date at the last minute b/c of Hurricane Frances last year! It was crazy! Here is her blog comments from that date: http://www.xanga.com/item.aspx?user=...&uid=127989575 |
My husband was at his mother's house in south Terrebonne Parish all day today changing out her water heater. She's elderly and could be affected by the high tides and wind where she is. At my urging, he offered her to come to our house for the night. She took him up on the offer and I'm glad she did. I wouldn't want to be way "down the bayou" with the winds coming through tonight and having to worry whether the water was overflowing the bayou! I don't expect the weather to be that bad here -- I think we'll be on the good side of the storm where the rain isn't bad (and tornados don't usually occur). I feel bad for those in Mississippi though. They've been dodging tornados all afternoon! Next up . . . Dennis! :) |
