Presidential Candidates?? I'm in Iowa where we are over-running with presidential candidates. Do the rest of you even care right now who the 2 final candidates are??? Today all the news folks can talk about is Oprah is appearing with Obama, here in Iowa & they have given away more than 10,000 tix. Just wondering if anyone else across the country is having a daily dose of all things 2008 Presidential Elections? The Iowa Caucus is quickly approaching -- Jan 3, so soon they will all be gone. On one hand it's neat, because the average Iowan can meet as many presidential candidates as they want. I won't get into who I am supporting, but I have had the chance to see several in person, and shake the hands of a couple. And my favorite candidate, who is now leading here, I met in a private home with about 30 other people this summer. But the down side is they're everywhere & their commercials air non-stop!! Anyone else experiencing this right now? Anyone care who we will vote for in Nov?? |
I care deeply since I feel we have never in my lifetime anyway needed a GREAT president more than now. I follow every word. |
I've never had the chance to meet one face to face but I think that would be really cool! I follow that stuff a little bit but sounds like it's a lot more interesting where you are. I'm not making any decisions yet on who to vote for. Who have you met? |

I pray we have 2 strong candidates who are honest and intelligent by this summer. I do have a favorite, but only time will tell if he can make it to the end. The funny thing is most of the media, and Washington political types & the candidates will all be around here for New Year's eve. The NY Times did a story last Sunday on how hip & cool Des Moines, Iowa is. And the paper here is writing about how reservations at the best restaurants are being snatched up on New Year's eve by all the media, etc. |

The thing is I have a favorite on both sides, one democrat and the other republican.....mercy me.:) both men. This is still early in the race and things can change. I want someone intelligent who is able to work with other nations and understand their needs also. Honesty is very important to me. We shall see and it is going to be a wild ride. </IMG> |

I'm watching the news, reading papers, etc so I can make an informed decision. I tend to lean Republican on most issues (but not ALL), but I would vote for a Democrate if I like the candidate, their ideas, and what they stand for. But I don't care for Obama, and definitely not Hillary. On the other hand I don't have a Republican candidate that I like all that well either. I think if Obama or Hillary get the Democratic bid, then whoever the Republican candidate is will win. |

I think it would take a miracle for the Republicans to win this time and although I have been one most of my life, I will probably vote Democrat but like I said before it's way too early to even think about a definite choice yet. For intelligent, I would surely give it to Obama and I like the fact that we could move us forward and not back to the 90's. I'm keeping an open mind and so want good leadership in 2009. |
'Meet the Press' at 10:30am this morning NBC should be interesting as Iowa gets closer to a vote. |
Oprah supposedly drew 18,500 people to the venue yesterday for Obama. ( I would like to have seen her, but not necessarily him) When the Clinton's have traveled here together as a team, they have drawn huge crowds. One thing I find interesting, is you really don't see Republicans trying to pull celebrities into their appearances like you do the Democrats. Although, Mike Huckabee's first commercial was a bit of a gag with Chuck Norris. |

I think that TV celebs and movie celebs should stick to what they know best: acting!!! They need to stay out of politics. |

In the last election I remember Tom Cruise and quite a few others came out for those running. Now if it was a newspaper I respected or Tom Brokow or Walter Cronkite that would be different. I think I am going to wait to post again until the middle of "08" , I do know this going to be one interesting race. |
I had lunch with Rudy a few months ago at a small fundraiser. I worked at the Senate in 2004 and met Hillary Clinton. I think they will be the 2 candidates that make it out of the primaries. My vote will be going to Rudy. If he can do to this country what he did to New York City, it would be amazing. |

just heard on the news that John Edwards is bringing in Tim Robbins (who I absolutely can't stand!) and Kevin Bacon this next week - bring on the celebs :thumbdown |
