Need Secret Santa Help Ok so we're doing secret santa at work. The person i got is a mother of two young boys and she's about 30/31 years old. She pulls a lot of hours at work, then goes to her mothers to pick up the kids (grandma babysits) and then goes home to her husband. She doesn't get a lot of free time to herself, she is always with teh kids when she's not at work. at first i was thinking aromatherapy stuff or bath stuff, but then i realized she'd never use it. there's no way she has the time for a relaxing bath by herself. I don't really want to go the gift certificate way and i don't want to make her something. So what do you guys think i should get her? |
Well did you guys happen to do a wish list? We made up a wish list of 5 items to "help" out our buddies. I love the fuzzy socks(slippers) that bath and body works has they are so soft. That is a start............ what is your budget/limit? |
starbucks gift card. I think the bath & body works stuff would be good idea. You could go with the lotion and body spray. Gift card for mani/pedi, it would force her to do something for herself, which she probably needs to do. Maybe a craft project she could do with the kids. Those kits where they do the hand prints of the kids. or movie coupons, pass to the children's museum/zoo or something like that. Sweater, mittens/scarft set, perfume, picture frame, Do you have Dinners Ready there? Those are cool, but probably out of the secret santa range, nevermind..... |
I think you can never go wrong with picture frames or a Christmas ornament. Maybe you could get her a cd to listen to on her way to and from work. |

we also are doing ss at work. A coworker jokingly wrote on her wish list a day free of kids..so my coworker printed up a certificate on the computer for a free day of babysitting-she is going to take them out to eat and to the movies-can't wait till she opens it!! Would something like that be possible?? |

She sounds "simple" by what your saying slipper socks would be good, those run $12 I purchased them for my secret sister gift and she loved them! Does she read? Anybooks she may like? pic frames, hand lotion for her purse? Bath and Body lotion or Burts Bee's I love the smell how about a lipgloss scrub top? I am always looking for new ones |
I would say a gift card for redlobster and a free babysitting for that night. Ha. lol. |
My mom's work does a gift thing where you bring a gift, then draw numbers and you get to pick presents in the order of the number you drew, and you can also steal presents. But anyway, the thing we did one year that was the biggest hit and got "stolen" cause everybody wanted it, might be a good idea for your person. We did a "movie night" gift basket. We got a large bowl w/ snowmen on it that could be used as a popcorn bowl, then put gift certificate for a movie rental, a box of popcorn, some "movie candy" (raisinets and such). I think we had a few other things but I cant remember what it was. It would be a good gift and she could have a movie night with hubby after the kids went to bed. |

I love foot care products that are easy to use - my favorite is Dr. Scholl's Peppermint Lotion - you can buy it at Walgreen's, Walmart etc - it is so invigorating - it works great for tired feet -- I did this one year for my daughter's dance teachers. Along, with a pair of slipper socks -- and my absolute favorite ones - I believe the softest and coziest and wash up the best are the ones at JC Penney - yesterday I was there and they had them 50% off for like $3.99 -- I think they are as good or not better than some of the $20 ones in high end department stores - get the soft ones, not the fuzzy, fibery ones. That would still give you plenty of money to buy something else that maybe she could share with her family. Or some chocolate for her own luxury or a beautiful picture frame to use on her desk at work. |
I think a gift card to a restaurant would be nice. |
I am 32 w/2 boys and I would enjoy getting my nails done, anything to do away from the house. I always do for the kids so the rare occasions I do get my nails or hair done it's a great thing! I just suggest any service that caters to women and it requires her to leave the kids and go. Good Luck, Angie |
How about a few aromatherapy candles, some bath salts, a bottle of wine (could be non-alcoholic) some chocolates, a good book, and an inflatable bath pillow, all wrapped up with a note that says "Pamper yourself" Or, rather than trying to get her to do something without her children, what about something she can do WITH them that would make her happy? How about a kids cooking cookbook with some colorful measuring spoons, or passes to a movie or a zoo so that she can spend time with them? |
