Does anyone else get grossed out by mopping?
 
I feel like my floors still arent clean when I mop.. I guess the dirty mop water just grosses me out. I 've been looking at the H20 Mop and the Shark Steam Mop but Im not sure if they really work as well as they say.. any input?:confused:

It doesn't really gross me out as much as it being a pain.

I use wet (and dry) swiffers that work just as well or better than a mop.

I always feel like tthe dirt is left on my grout.. so I am looking for something that will solve this if it does exist

i know I read it ... I even looked online and I was pretty convinced on the H20 mop then I read the reviews ,not so great, same thing with the shark... lwt mw know how you like yours!

I am grossed out by my housekeeper's mop!!! He brings his own "special mop" (yes, I use a guy to clean my house and he is the BEST I have ever had (to clean ...lol) much better than all the woman I have used over the years) But he brings a mop with him.....I feel like the mop if so dirty!!!! He likes to use his own stuff ....like his rags, his vacuum, his mop, etc....but I have decided to buy him a mop that he is to use at our house only!!!

I had one of those steam mops and was able to use it 3 or 4 times before it seized... apparently the mechanics don't like the moisture????

Haven't Swiffers been linked to causing deaths and cancer in pets?

I have a doggie daycare and do quite a bit of cleaning, I use a sponge mop and change the head often. I use two different buckets, both have cleaner mixed in but one is used to rince and the other is used to clean.

What kind of floors do you have? I have hardwood floors, and I use the star mop. I love it! I use the hardwood and laminate spray floor cleaner that they sell at Home Depot (Zep).

I have this mop... love it and mine is old about 5 years. The cloth is easy to rinse after each time you go over the floor and when your done you just throw it in the washer. The cloths I got were from the Pomona Fair and they have last me a long time.:thumbup:

how does it work.. it says no chemicals needed? how do you clean? It sounds more like a broom.... do u use water? I looked on amazon but didnt really give much info?

I have the hand held small Shark steam cleaner, I find it is really great in getting into small areas that are so hard to clean, I don't use it like they advertise on tv, it takes time in using it due to it's being a small unit, it requires refilling quite frequently. It seems like I am forever cleaning every day so I don't find mopping a problem. Just like doing the laundry every day, maybe they are small loads but it seems in order for me to keep up I just need to do it this way. The one thing I hate is cleaning the shower, we have the tile above on the ceiling, glass door so it is a task for me, I did find a great glass cleaning product which I am appreciative of. Yesterday was shower cleaning day :eek: but I got it all done:D looks so nice now :)

Yep, I got mine at the pomona fair too, Rosie! They actually revamped it. I had one from several years ago, and the pad stopped sticking to it. When I went there this past fair, I got a new one. If I had kept the old one, they'd have exchanged it for free.

It works like a Swiffer basically, but you get reusable, washable microfiber pads to clean the fllor. Spray the zep hardwood floor cleaner, let it set a few seconds if you have stuck on stuff, then just wipe away. No water, no bucket. If you don't have hardwood floors, you can use any kind of all purpose cleaner in a spray bottle. Like diluted Mr. Clean or whatever you usually use for floors.

No:eek: , yea exchanged it for free....How:confused: ? I still have my old one, my pads still stick. I just had to re-glue the velcro on the mop and just like new :rolleyes: ....lol

I saw the new one too......QVC carries it too.:thumbup:

Funny you brought this up because my boyfriend accidentally dropped some eggs on the kitchen tiles earlier, and began mopping it up. It really did disgust me out ... :rolleyes:

Sorry Cindy, I didn't see you there...;)

It works just like Misty said plain and simple, I like it because I'm always washing dish's and wetting the kitchen floor or when I'm in a rush I just wet the floor with cleaner and wipe it up good and all clean........I have also used it on the walls. ;)

I just got the Shark Steam Cleaner. I've had a small triangle steam unit, but it just didn't produce the steam and left the floors wet. I've only used the Shark once, but it produces a great deal of steam and the floors aren't real wet when I'm done. I love the fact that the steam literally disinfects without any cleaning products. The pads you use go in the washer when you're done as well.

I am seriously considering the Sahrk Mop.

Would you mind posting a REVIEW thread on it after you've used it a few times?

What floors your using it on, ease of use, etc?

I bought the Shark Steam Mop 2 weeks ago and it works really well. I love the fact that you do not have to use any chemicals and my floors look great! It is very easy to use.

No, I don't get grossed out by mopping. My hubbie gets grossed out because I don't feel like I'm TRULY mopping unless I use the old fashioned string mop and wring it out by hand. Really getting down to business that way. ;)

Gosh, you guys are gonna think I'm nuts, I still do my new hardwoods on my hands and knees. Kitchen, living room and dining room, but that's probably cuz they're still so new. Maybe I'll try a swiffer next time, but my floors don't get that dirty with just me and the girls.

Hmmm, my husband does all the mopping in our house. He bought himself a "man mop"..... he throws it in the washer with bleach/soap everytime he mops the floor (almost daily...) I know its always clean....
