| nvnvgirl | 11-30-2007 09:53 AM | I'm hoping by now you're feeling a little better! One thing that I wanted to suggest is that if your nose is stuffed up, instead of using a nasal SPRAY, to use nose DROPS....I've had patients who used the sprays when they had a bacterial pneumonia and the infection travelled to their brain thru the sinuses b/c of using the spray. Not to frighten you, but just be aware of it. Other than that, Tylenol (if you aren't taking something that has aspirin or Ibuprofen in it already....try to stick with the same antipyretic (aspirin, tylenol, motrin, etc) in all your meds if they have them in them...so that you're not using one with Tylenol, one with aspirin, one with Ibuprofen ....to reduce your fever if you still have one. I assume your MD gave you antibiotics already, and they take a day or so to really kick in, but you want to keep your temp down as much as you can, just so you're more comfortable! And lots of thin liquids (water, juices, broth) to keep you hydrated esp. with a fever. The vaporizers are a great idea too if you can put one right next to you. I know how much you don't want to go to the hospital, esp. with your baby being sick too. And get as much rest as you possibly can. I know it's hard when you're the one responsible for a sick baby!Hope you're both feeling much better by the time this posts! |
