Yorkie at Concert last night!
 

This is not off-topic however I didn't really want to vent this way in the general discussion! I went to Saratoga last night to a Dave Matthews Concert! There were approximately 30,000 people there. Like any concert it was loud, there were drunk people all over, fireworks in the parking lot. I'm sitting in the grass and I look up and I see the smallest yorkie puppy I have ever seen, walking with 2 teen-age girls, off-leash! This puppy could not have been old enough for shots.

Needless to say the puppy's owner was in tears by the time I got done with her. While I was speaking with her about her irresponsible behavior and the stupidity of using the poor puppy as an attention getter and accessory an older man approached us. He turned out to be a Vet and had a few words for her too. Turned out he estimated the puppy being about 5 weeks old!! I wanted to take the dog from her, but after we talked she headed straight to her car and hopefully went home!


Last night just made me really sad! I don't understand how people disregard what's best for their babies.

That's a true yorkie lover for ya - you go girl ! If anything - you did give her something to think about - that baby could have been easily killed with all that traffic - way to go!

Oh that poor sweet puppy. You did the right thing and I am glad the Vet was there. Sometimes these kids just don't think :mad: :mad:
did you invite her to Yorkie Talk? Hopefully she will do a lot of thinking now,
and talk to the breeder or her Vet to get more info.........

Sigh. This is exactly what I would expect from a tween at a DMB concert. So sad what these pups have become. Who would GIVE a young girl a puppy who was only 5 weeks old? Whose parents would let them bring the *newborn* pup to a freaking concert? I am so frustrated!!! You did a commendable thing; I'm not sure I would've had the balls. Did you tell her about Yorkie Talk?

I did tell her about YT and I also gave her my name, number and email so when she came to her senses and needed information she could contact me! I have to say the puppy did not look well and it was heartbreaking. He was much too young to be away from his mom. I just hope she gets him the proper care so he can be healthy. I am still soooooo aggravated and I can't stop thinking about it. I was with my neighbor (who has a shihtzu) and we were both all over that girl for what she was doing. I gave her a harness and leash I had in my car (always have an extra) put it on her puppy and begged her to please take care of him!

Truth be told, I wanted to take the dog from her!!!

You tell her!.. I can't believe these puppies are getting younger and younger! It's like.. they're paying more to get them earlier so they're remaining small for longer. Ughk.. things like this make me so upset.

ooooh thats so sad. i am so much more sad than mad right now. i feel so bad for that poor baby. it was off leash???? it could've been stepped on!!! and was only 5 weeks old!!!!!!!!? that's the part that makes me mad. who would be so stupid to sell a puppy that young. i'm more mad at the stupid irresponisble breeder than the girls. they should have known better but a breeder????!!! oh you did the right thing!! you go girl good job!!!!! i hope she decides to coem on here. it can help her so much!

Good for you to educate her on her puppy. I'm glad that the vet showed up to. 5 WEEKS OLD!!! :eek: It doesn't take a genius to figure out that a concert is one place that a puppy or any dog for that matter needs to go!

It is so great that you were there at the concert and noticed the situation. Had you not been there something horrible might have happened. :eek:

I doubt that the teen girls purposely placed the little Yorkie pup in harms way, I just don't think they were educated in the importance of taking care of such a breed as a tiny Yorkie.

I don't know the situation with the breeder but I do have concern that anybody would allow a 5 wk old pup to be adopted so soon. Hopefully there is a good reason for that, however we will never know.

I commend you for telling the girls about Yorkie Talk. I do hope they log on and learn all they can for their pup and also possibly keep in contact with you.

I really hope the future holds a devoted lifetime of love and care for this Yorkie. :p

Oh poor puppy. My husband is a big Dave Mathews fan and would give anything to go to one of his concerts.

It was really good but I have to be honest! My friends and I cheated and just sat outside the venue. SPAC is like that, you can sit outside in the park, see the screen and hear the concert perfect without paying a cent ;) We are planning on doing the same for The Allman Brothers, Tom Petty and The Black Crowes at the end of the month ;) I cant' believe they went in the rain, I have never seen it rain that hard! Saturday night was so beautiful! We are close, we should meet up sometime!

Good for you for saying something to her. Sometimes people just don't think, and then it's their pets that suffer... :(

It took real courage to confront someone who was behaving irresponsively with their Yorkie. That's what I love about this site. You guys really care about Yorkies, whether they are yours or not.

I think it takes an especially callous, horrible, uncaring person to hurt or neglect an animal, especially a tiny yorkie so defenseless, precious and vulnerable. Truth be told this is how I ended up with Bruce...I had been looking into a Yorkie for quite some time, studying up, selecting a breeder, etc. When my mother and I happened to pass a "designer dog shop" and morbid curiosity lured us in. I like everyone else find the whole back yard breeder, puppy mill, pet shop operation disgusting and I told myself I would never, ever purchase a puppy from a place like this or support one in anyway...We walked in and it was swarmed with little teenage girls buying teeny tiny dogs at $750-$1800 a pop. I was about to yell at the shop manager (really the place is some sort of dog swap meet where breeders show their dogs) when I saw Bruce. A teeny tiny adorable Yorkie try to run away from the 15 year old version of Elmyra trying to clutch him. Without thinking I looked at his precious face, saw that her parents were caving and being in the brokerage place had been bad enough, and my mother and I grabbed him out of her hands and purchased him right away! I know I shouldn't have done this but it pained me to think of any precious yorkie with someone who did not love/know about the breed and wanted him only as a fashion accessory. Coincidentally after getting him healthy and happy Bruce is the best dog I have ever owned!

I cannot believe the deplorable, inhumane, and cruel conditions that these babies are born into and forced to live in because of the boom in popularity of small dogs. All the while back yard breeders are laughing all the way to the bank! Thank you Paris Hilton!

Sorry to go off on this rant, but anway thank you simonandhallie for saying something and speaking up for that baby since it could not speak for itself.

okay this is going to freak you guys out! ok i'm in noway into "naughty" adult things but my brother is(he's a single guy what can you say). i'm going to try and explain this the best i can without being inappropriate. yesterday my brother goes into this "adult site" and it features these guys in a bus that pick up random people off the street to do fun things ;) so they pick up this girl from canada and she's in florida on spring break so she has her very tiny yorkie(wich is why my brother said i have to see this) with her and you should have seen the way they were treating that baby :thumbdown while mommy is busy :eek: the baby had a harness on and a leash and that a**hole was swinging it around like it was a puppet!the girl grabs the leash and takes it away from him, then continues on with what she's doing, then they drop her off literally, and she gets out of this bus first while the guy is holding this yorkie and can you believe HE TAKES OFF WITH THE DOG!!!! i was in total shock! then in another trailer he still has this dog! if you want to see it for yourself pm me, because i will not and i'm sure i can't post it here. i was so angry after seeing that :mad: even my brother who loooves dogs was so angry at the girl and the guy!so sad!
