The $1 coin MYTH Sorry ... if you're one of the folks sending the email I've just received for the 50th time this week, I don't mean to offend. This is really starting to annoy me though. Not because I've received it 50 times, but because it's WRONG!!! Apparently, there's an email going around about people refusing to accept in change or to use the new $1 president coins because the words "In God We Trust" aren't on the coins. The email encourages everyone to do the same. Ummmmm ... If you look at the rim of the coins, not only is In God We Trust" etched there, so is the American motto "E pluribus unum." (I got a handful of these in change a few weeks ago at the airport when I needed a ticket for the metro train. I can see where you might miss it. At first, I thought it was just cut marks left from the minting process -- 'til I put my glasses on.:p |
Snopes.com Any email that I receive gets checked on Snopes.com before forwarding..... http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/dollarcoin.asp |
I am surprised they have made another $1 coin since the Susan B. Anthony ones were not a big hit. I always had to explain to the ;pizza delivery guys that I was giving more than a quarter tip .... |

I too am surprised to see more $1 coins out too! I thought after the last ones, there were lots of complaining or something and it was said they were doing away with them? :scratchhe |
