Bad news... I took my Maltese Joey to the vet today for a blood work-up. He apparently has a pretty bad heart murmer and is anemic. I won't know until tomorrow what his bloodwork shows. He has had more than his share of illnesses in his life. We almost lost him when he was two due to an autoimmune disease. He gets chronic ear infections, and is allergic to just about everything. He is 9 now, and it seems as though his little body is slowly giving out. He was never even supposed to live this long because of his autoimmune disease. I just feel so sad and lost. I am not ready to let my little guy go yet. :cry2: |
I am sorry to hear this.... How wonderful that you have had him with you for so long! :littleang |
I'm so sorry to hear about Joey's health problems....I don't blame you for being upset, there still our babies.....I hope the doctor has some encouraging news... |
Your doing something right if he is 9yrs old and was not suppose to make it this far. Lot's of love and care I'm guessing. Hopefully all will be ok. Finger's crossed for you. |
I hope things aren't as bad as you think they are. We are never ready to say goodbye to our pets. Sending you hugs! |
I'm so sorry to hear about Joey. I hope everything turns out well, tomorrow. Sending warm wishes and happy thoughts for you. |

I'll be keeping you and little Joey in my thoughts and prayers. He's a fighter, if he's overcome the odds against him this long. Bless his tiny heart. |
Iam so very sorry, My prayes are with you. |
Hopefully they can treat him and he will have some more years with you. |
Thanks everyone for your kind words. Joey is laying here at my feet as I type this. He is ALWAYS by me. I will let you all know what tomorrow brings when I get his test results. |
I'm so sorry. Maybe some YT prayers will work. |
I'm so sorry:( |
Prayers for Joey & prayers for you tonight. My Maltese, Jack, was my only true soulmate. I had him for 5 years. |
Ok. So I got Joey\'s blood test results. In addition to his heart murmur, he has hypothyriodism and the worst of all, Cushing\'s disease. I am still learning about it, but it is a disease where he is producing too much cortisol. It is most likely from a pituitary tumor. He will now be on thyroid medication. Not sure yet what needs to be done about the Cushing\'s. We also are getting a chest x-ray and EKG test next week to see how enlarged his heart is. Please pray for my little guy. He is everything to me. I just want some more time with him. |
