Oh Dear! I was on my hubby's laptop earlier and i was looking at a bunch of recipe sites trying to find something and then a virus warning popped up so i deleted the file it told me to and then I decided to turn the computer off. As i did that my screen went black and started flashing! I turned the computer off but when i turn it back on it's still flashing and i can't see anything, although i can hear the starting windows sounds. I haven't told my hubby yet, he's gonna be pissed!:rolleyes: Can a virus make your screen do that? |

Lol... sorry, but I found your story funny... how you were only looking for recipes. Sounds like a virus to me. I hope your husband won't be too mad and I hope it doesn't affect any files on your computer. Maybe you should tell him instead of letting him find out for himself. Goodluck! |
Oh yikes! It does sound like a possible virus. What program told you to delete a file? Was it your antivirus program or just a box that popped up and told you to do that. Sometimes things will happen where they trick you into deleting a needed file...but if it was your antivirus program, that wouldn't be the case. I wish I knew how to help you get it fixed before hubby finds out. Good luck! |

Gosh, you'd think you'd be safe on recipe sites! I was just looking at some recent viruses and one can be picked up on websites where a box pops up to say you need activeX, so to click on it, and when you do, you download the virus. I suppose you can't get it to come on at all? If you can, go here and run a scan...they pick up a lot of the trojan horses and such: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ I have my own antivirus program, but I still run this scan every now and then. |

As far as I know, it's safe. I trusted it because computer geeks or one of those computer help places recommended it. I've used it and had no problems with it. I have adaware also, the free version, and that helps with spyware too...oh...and I also have Spybot search and destroy. I run that about once a month or so. |
I use spybot seach and destroy, adaware (a great one) and AVG as my anti-virus protection...I run each daily just in case lol..hopefully his computer is ok..keep us posted!! Dawn |

I've had the same thing happen, first time I followed the instructions and it all seemed so like it was legit and my software but it actually downloaded a virus and spyware on my system. I had to pay some guy to come fix it. It actually just happened to me yesterday and I exited out instead and then ran my virus stuff and everything was ok. The pop up yesterday said that someone had hacked in and stolen my information, it was weird. |
Omg... it detected a trojan virus on my laptop!!!!!! All those times I have been using personal information... I kept telling my bf about it, but seems to not care... I knew it all along! I better change my passwords and account information soon on another computer. |
Sounds like a virus. Can you restart your modem if you have one? You may have to reformat your hard drive. |

What if when you are restarting the computer you tap on the F11 key...I think that might bring you into safe mode...its been so long I hardly remember..sounds like its a bad virus whatever you got.. Dawn |

hmmm...hopefully it's a mean pop-up and not a virus. I woulda turned the computer off and not said anything to my hubby and let him think he did something to his own computer...but that's bad and sneaky. You are a much nicer person..hehe |

Well, hubby has been working on it tonight and he plugged in a different monitor to it and it came on, but the laptop definately crashed. He had to reinstall everything, i don't know what he'll do to get the screen going again, but i'm staying out of it! LOL |
