Shrinky dinks... A few years ago, my son made a christmas ornament at school...he drew a snow man on something like shrinky dinks and of course it shrunk, and I love it.... It is his drawing but it is sturdy and has held up so well compared to all the other construction paper or popsicle stick stuff the kids bring home... Anyone ever use this, and where do you get it...is it sheets of plastic like stuff? Is it expensive? what is it called? I think it would be a super fun Christmas craft for my family this year! |
The last i used them..which was like 1979:eek: I loooooooved them They were called shrinky dinks. I would search online... i bet they even have a web site now with store locations. good luck |
I think I have saw them in toy stores. Toys R Us? Kay Bee Toys? I'd try there as well as craft stores. Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc. Good luck! |
Their still out there. You can get them at Joanne's in sheets. And they still have the kits in some toy isles. I loved them. You can shrink them with a heat gun now. |
yes, you can get the sheets at a craft store. I'd check out walmarts too. Sometimes they have that stuff. And yes, it's a more expensive than regular paper but it's a cute project idea and I don't think it's horribly expensive. Good Luck!:) |
If you google shrinky dinks you will find a site that shows you how to make them cheap out of plastic veggie containers and lids from the salad bar. |
Ive never heard of Shrinky Dinks in my life lol...going to have to google that one for sure lol.. Dawn |
I've made things out of that with the grandkids. Didn't know that was what it was called, but they had a whole lot of it. |
oh, I love shrinky dinks - I was still making them in junior high ;) -- just with boys names on them and hanging them from a thread for necklace - classy huh? But I made such fun ones with my daughter when she was younger. They have all kinds of kits for the holidays - we did a great easter one once. And no they are not expensive |
I'm going to have to look this up.......it sounds like something fun to play with!!! |
