Why do stores open at 4am today? Why can't they just open at 9am like any other day? Why can't I say no to my daughter and just let her go out alone at 4am to buy toys? Why does hubby have to be so cooperative and volunteer to "babysit" sleeping children so that I have to be the one to go with her? (ok, in reality we did draw straws and I came up a little short) I hate shopping on a quiet day. Am I the only one up and dressed at 4am to go out into the mayhem? |

I was up and dressed to hit that stores at 4am i usually go with my sister but this year I went with my husband, it was his first time to do the shopping after thanksgiving and he thinks it is NUTS! I had fun with him and we were at 3 different stores and home by 6:30! He sticks to a list so maybe that is the secret to getting in and out quickly. The only thing we had trouble finding was Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii :( but I am sure we will get it before it's to late! |
I went out at 4 am to get a few things but didn't really see anything worth buying. I pretty much avoided the crazy stores like WalMart :) |

I just got home from JoAnns, they opened at 6am and there wasn't many people there. I did drop off Bf at Circuit City at about 5:45 and it looked mobbed in there. |
I never, ever shop the day after t-giving - and I'm not sure if I know why people do it, knowing how bad it will be. Is it bc of the sales that people go? Good luck, you are a great mom! :D |
Its the "door busters" that get people in. Limited quantity and only available at a certain price until a certain time. |
and I am just a CWAZEE loon too cause I am on my way to a 6 am opening right now for the first time. lol |
Oh If I didnt have to work today Id be out too!!! I LOVE going shopping today! The crowds, the sales!!! Everyone is so happy! I hate the traffic but other than that! If I had the day off and actual money! Id be out too!! :) You are a good good mommy!!! Actually some of my BEST memories as a 'kid' were my dad taking me out shopping on this day! We'd get up at like 4am, make breakfast and then head out for the day! It was so fun!! :) Your daughter will remember this when she is much older and you'll be glad! (Im 30 and still remember it with my dad) Have FUN!! |
I think the whole "doorbuster" concept is stupid and is meant to whip everyone up into a frenzy. Like the Best Buy one for the laptop/printer combo for $299 (I think). There, on the ad, in fine print is the dooming sentence "20 per store" So people that have no lives/jobs line up days in advance, and no one really has a fair shot at any of the doorbuster type things. It's a marketing ploy, they figure that once you're there at that ungodly hour, you're going to buy ANYTHING to not feel like you've wasted your time. That's where they get ya! We'll be doing some shopping later today, after the 4 AM loonies are safely at home eating turkey sandwiches and napping:laugh: |
4 am - too late 4 am is nothing here, this yr. -- we had an entire mall (well like 70% of this huge mall) open at 12:01 am today. I offered to take my 18 yr old & she wasn't interested. Mainly because we have never been Black Friday shoppers - on occasion, I've gone to get 1 or 2 things, but I don't really care for the frenzy. But my mother does - always has. I am looking thru the ads from yesterday's paper just now - see if there is anything I must have, that I can still get after the early shoppers are home napping. One good buy - Walgreens coupon for today only - dog beds $7.99, limit 2 -- but not sure we need anymore beds here  |
I don't understand 4am openings. I can maybe see 5:00 and definitely 6:00 but 4:00am is meant for sleeping! These openings are getting earlier and earlier every year. There was an outlet mall in a friend's town that was opening at midnight and I could do that. Im awake at midnight but not 4 |
Not me. I don't go near the stores on Black Friday. Too many people. |
