Help,what should I bring? I am going to my SIL's house for Thanksgiving and I am just stumped about what to bring. She live 3 hours away so I can't bring anything that needs to be kept warm. Of course she said not to worry about bringing anything but I want to because my daughter and I are vegetarians and I'm afraid there wont be anything for us to eat. My SIL has a huge Thanksgiving every year for her family and my husband's family and everyone brings food. They are both true southern families so even the veggies will not be vegetarian. I can't think of anything that wont have cow milk, butter or meat in it. Right now my only plan is to I bring some tapenade for an appetizer and maybe some hummus and veggies then for dinner we could have salad (maybe) and bread. Isn't that sad? Does anyone have a brilliant idea to save us? |
I have a great recipe for Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips, but it is at home and I am here at work.... |
Bring a Tofurkey and try to get people to try it. I do that every year. Some people like it and some people don't. So are you vegetarian or vegan? |
What if you ask if you can come early to cook something you and your daughter can eat. |

okay called hubby....:D INGREDIENTS 2 kiwis, peeled and diced 2 Golden Delicious apples - peeled, cored and diced 8 ounces raspberries 1 pound strawberries 2 tablespoons white sugar 1 tablespoon brown sugar 3 tablespoons fruit preserves, any flavor 10 (10 inch) flour tortillas butter flavored cooking spray 2 cups cinnamon sugar DIRECTIONS In a large bowl, thoroughly mix kiwis, Golden Delicious apples, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Coat one side of each flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Cut into wedges and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle wedges with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray. Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with any remaining tortilla wedges. Allow to cool approximately 15 minutes. Serve with chilled fruit and spice mixture. I like using apricot preserves....and I also put cinnamon sugar in bag and shake the mixture on the triangles after first coat of cinnamon sugar! Enjoy! |

I have made the salsa the night before but I would probably do the cinnamon chips tomorrow, that way they are crispy and fresh!! Let me know how you like it!!!! |
I have a recipe for Pumpkin Lasagna, but it has dairy products in it and will probably only be lukewarm by the time you arrive. |

I've decided that I'm going to just relax. Eating butter or milk one day isn't going to kill me and my main reason for avoiding them is to not support the dairy industry. Since I didn't buy the food, I'm just going to eat it. That opens up the veggie casseroles so we should be fine. |
Here's a good salad Bag of baby mixed green 1/2 bag of spinach leaves 1/2 cup cried cranberries 1/4 cup sunflower seeds 1 cup of dry chow mein noodles 1 pear chopped 2 kiwis chopped 1 small can mandarin oranges, drained 1 bottle of Marie's brand poppy seed dressing, to taste (a little goes a long way so don't put in too much, it can get too overpowering) |
