A day to never repeat! I woke up at 830am this morning! On the day before my bday! And I went pee, flushed and heard weird noises, but I didnt think MUCH of it! Went downstairs to make coffee and wash the pan from last night and had NO hot water! So I DING went off in my head and I said "OH CRAP!!!" and I flew down to the basement to see 3 inches of water and more of it just GUSHING out of my hot water tank!!! I didn't know how to turn off the main water line, I was MENTAL!!!! I finally got in touch with my brother in NM (2500 miles away) and he helped me on the phone to find the water main and turn it off, then I finally got in touch with my dad and my grandfather! They both came over and turns out I had to replace the water tank($325) and my basement (1/2 is finished and carpeted) is SOAKED!! We were pumping water, sopping it up with EVERY towel I own, I finally got a wet vac and have been at it ALL DAY LONG!!! I just finished the last pass with the vac that IM doing tonight and it was 430 when I finished! What a LONGGGG DAY!!! Im soooo sore and tired I want to cry! HAPPY FREAKIN BIRTHDAY to me huh??? |
Sorry you had such a bad day. That has happened with our hot water tank before too. It sucked:( |
That stinks!!! Hope you have a much better day tomorrow. Happy early birthday!!!!!! |
What a horrible day you had!!! I hope tomorrow is much better!!!!!!! |
Such a day, it can only get better and lots better since tomorrow is your Birthday. I may not be on for long tomorrow so I'll wish you a Very Happy Birthday right now. Hugs Joan |
tomorrow has got to be better! happy birthday!!! |
That happen to us last yr, Iam sorry you had such a bad day, and the mess is so crapy, hubby had to use the shop vac for hrs, hope you have a better day tommarow;) |
Happened to us too!!!........ what a mess!......... You DO know that your insurance Co. will pay to replace any damage that it caused, right? It just won't pay to replace the water heater. We got all new carpet in the areas that were flooded AND had someone also replace the linolium in the bathroom... the HOT water made the adhesive on the linolium come loose. If you have insurance and a lot of damage, you may want to give them a call. (They also might pay for cleanup... and making sure that it is good and dry so there isn't any MOLD issues later.) Sorry to hear of your misfortune. But...... you are not alone! by the way...:bigbdaypa :bigbdaypa ......maybe you can go out and celebrate it this coming weekend!;) |
Tomorrow will be a better day! Happy Birthday! |
Happy "early" Birthday!!!! :yay_jump: I am sorry that happened to you......that sucks!!! (for lack of a better word) We have some sort of alarm hooked to our hot water heater...so if it leaks, etc, the alarm goes off so we know!!! AND we purposely didn't put down carpet in our basement....just in case!!! I don't envy you at all...what a mess!!!! |

This morning I realized that yesterday I turned off the gas to the furnace when I was trying to turn off the gas to the water heater and so I had no heat last night or this morning! It was snowing outside a bit and FREEZING in the house! I went next door and asked my neighbor if he could light my pilot on my furnace. He did! So now im good to go I HOPE! :D Thanks for the Bday wishes all!!!! :D |
What a mess! That happened to us before but we weren't home to catch it right away. Our water heater was in the garage and a neighbor saw water coming out from under our closed garage door! It did get into the house from under the walls connected to the garage and we got enough from the insurance company to recarpet and retile AND ended up with enough to repaint the entire inside of the house! It was actually a blessing in disguise. Hope your day is better today..... Happy Birthday!! Today is my husband's birthday too! |
o wow im sorry:( I hope you have a good day tommorrow! |
So sorry to hear about this!!! I hope you are having a better day today! Happy Birthday!!! This happened at my Parent's house too. Bad thing is, when I moved to TX I kept a lot of my stuff there and it was all on the floor in the basement. Needless to say, I lost most of my porcelian dolls I had collected over the years. |
I'm so sorry:( Hopefully things will get better from here, right?;) |
