So sick of my son snarling his nose at EVERY meal!!! I am DONE so done!!!! It does not matter what I cook...my 11 year old son can be such a little snot about it!!!! Every night he ruins our family dinner by refusing to eat something I have made. My DH and I think it has just become a habit for him because I am making things that he has loved his whole life. We were having the best evening and he completely ruined it. It caused us all to get into a huge fight at the dinner table!!!! Now my DH is pissed and I am all pissed off too. We told him absolutely NO more snacks!! He is to stay out of the refrig & the pantry. We figure if he has no snacks he will eat at meal time. It is so disrespectful of him to be so rude at every meal!!! My blood is boiling right now!!! Does everyone have this problem or is it just me? Any suggestions? |
I'm sorry :( I agree with not allowing any snacks. If he's hungry he'll eat, especially if he does something active after school. I know I had dance after school and I was always STARVED when I got home...although I loved almost everything my parents cooked...I was usually so hungry I didn't care what it was. |
I'm sorry your dinner time was ruined!! If it makes you feel any better, they get better when they get older and are thrilled with anything you cook for them (this is when they are much older and have moved out :p ). I know that doesn't help you now, but it is something to look forward too. I agree about the snacks and stuff....kids:rolleyes: |
I'm sorry. My mom used to hate that i did that to her too:( |

I think kids (teens & preteens) are just at the stage where nothing is good enough. They always want something...never ends. I'm sorry to hear your dinner was ruined..but hey, you can send me the leftovers! :D (I'm waiting for hubby to get home to order takeout..lol) |

My 6 year old does that too! So when he throws a fit I tell him to eat what was made or starve but either way he is to sit there at the table until we are all done. If he starts eating then he can talk with us if he doesn't eat then he is to keep quiet. It's working for now. |
Thanks guys for trying to cheer me up....it is working!!!!! I am feeling much better hearing from you guys!!!! :ghug: :ghug: |
Im sorry:( but I know how that is, I have a 4 year old sister and tonight she wanted to eat at this one restaurant that we eat at all the time, well we ended up not eating there we ate Mexican. So she didn't eat at all, and she got mad, and just came home and ate junk food. |
WE have that same issue with my 11 year old......maybe ours were switched at birth...LOL. Believe me we fight every meal with Christian, and he will NOT eat meat or vegs.....just cheese, pasta, some hot dogs and a few other things...but since hubby and I are watching what we eat....he has been forced to eat some chicken....and a small amt of hamburger the other day... I frankly get tired of fighting....and hubby has now resorted to he has to eat what the other 3 of us are eating...in some amount.....,.plus we told him that his blood sugar was high, like hubby's.....LOL.....so he now thinks he needs to eat better so he does not loose a foot......LOL....Oh i know, that is so mean....but that is what the younger son says everytime Christian does notwant to eat. ""Do you want to lose a foot or something, Christian"??? Did I tell you we have a very weird sense of humor at our house.....??? Good luck, I hope mine grows out of it too....but I do believe it causes way to much stress at the supper table to fight all the time......just let him be hungry......better said than done at my house too....:):) |
Good Lord new what he was doing when I didn't birth children! If he was mine I would have him excuse himself and go to his room without. It wouldn't take long for him to realize he needed to eat what was provided!! I would suck as a mom. Lol |
My daughter was the absolute queen of picky eaters. She drove me crazy. She just turned 13 in Oct. and we finally had a turning point. She's trying new things and even eating things she doesn't love without making a painful face. There is hope!:) |
I use to do that when I was younger. It was because I would come home and eat junk food after school. My mother realized it and she started making me one healthy snack right after school and then I would eat at dinner time. If your normal dinner time is early, I wouldn't let him get a snack till maybe after dinner. |
