Have you heard?? Is this true?? I got this email from my sister....has anyone heard anything about this and is it really true?? WOW!! I LOOKED THIS UP ON SNOOPS AND ITS "PRETTY MUCH" TRUE. THE GOVERNMENT PROBABLY JUST WANTS YOU TO NOT BE AWARE . PERSONALLY....I WON'T BUY ANYMORE. WAL-MART MILK: Just in case any of you shop at Wal-Mart like me, you might want to reconsider buying their Milk after reading this... Please read this and pass along to as many people as you can think of. Mitzi Lyons and her husband Kyle live in Gainesville, TX. Their daughter, Marissa, has been experiencing menstrual problems (bleeding every day) for three years and within the last year; she started producing milk (lactating). They have performed every test, every surgery, put her on birth control and in January were scheduled to undergo a hysterectomy. NEVERTHELESS, Mitzi's dad started researching his granddaughter's condition on the internet found out about RBST in milk. RBST is a hormone injected into cows to produce more milk. Wal-Mart Great Value milk contains RBST and is the brand that the Lyons family has used for years. Three months ago, they pulled Marissa off Great Value Milk and she quit bleeding and lactating. Her doctors in Houston are going to write a medical journal discovery about her case, because the FDA says that RBST is safe. Mitzi asked me to please share this with everyone I could think of to I hope that save someone the pain and suffering that Marissa has endured. I have pulled my family from Wal-Mart Great Value milk and bought Borden instead. Borden has a label on their milk that states that RBST is not used on their cows. |
The snopes listing says that the milk containing the hormone is true, but the claims for causing problems to humans is false... Here's the info at snopes... http://www.snopes.com/medical/potables/walmart.asp |
omg. my mom and i have been drinking that milk. im gonna tell her. cause she has had those same problems. thank you soooo much |
Thanks for that (snopes link).....I don't drink milk (lactose intolerant), but it is a shame that so many food products now have so much other stuff in it, that shouldn't be there! |
So is it ok to drink or use that kind? I get that kind because its affordable. the 1/2 gallon is. we use it when we cook stuff. i don't drink it by itself because im allergic to dairy. so i cant have much of it when i do. |
I don't know if it is okay or not...I guess it would be....BUT not for me....I have been trying to watch what all is in the food I eat because some of that stuff, just shouldn't be there!! Ya know??!! Milk is sooo expensive....I read somewhere that in the next 5 years, everything will be a lot more than it is now...of course it will be, but I wish it wouldn't be! |
Braums has the best milk I can't drink anything else. |
A while back Montel was talking about this, they where talking about how are little girls are going through puberty at younger and younger ages now....I do believe there is a lot of bad stuff in the milk, if our beef is full of contaminates then so is the milk... I told my daughter that when she had her baby to only give her organic formula, and that's all she's gotten for the past year....that's the only milk I'll touch.... |
I've heard of that..crazy |
Gainesville is just down the road from us (well work) -- crazy! I know the milk is still on the shelves at our local Wally World |
I believe that hormones are also used in chicken, other poultry and beef. Like the milk, unless is says it is free of it, it probably isn't. |
I don't know. I've been drinking that milk for a long time and haven't had any problems.... There is so much garbage in all the food we eat... people even say the organic stuff isn't always organic. Who knows what to believe any more? It's getting crazy. |
We drink organic milk. No hormones, no anti-biotics. I don't want the hormones, and my husband is allergic to penicillin. Plus, it tastes better. We drink Organic Valley or TJ's organic (which is probably private labelled OV) Their chocolate milk is awesome and is corn syrup free! Girls are menstruating earlier and earlier. Milk is one of the reasons why. With Walmart, you must again look at why things cost what they cost. Organic Milk is $5/gallon. Kemps (good quality non-organic) is about $3.50-$4/gallon. Wal Mart Milk is what, $2.50/gallon? Doesn't that make you wonder? We've been switched for a year now and I don't think it impacts our grocery budget all that much. We drink 1-2 gallons a week, so yes that is $40/month on milk. But it tastes so good I make my own hot chocolate and skip Starbucks, so it's worth it. Also, did you know that in Illinois (where I live) they are forced to put a disclaimer on the non-rbst milk that says it's no different than milk that has rbst? They don't have that law in WI. Milk can freely be labeled RBST-free in WI. They say that RBST is just the hormore that the cows get after they give birth, so they produce a lot of extra milk. They just give it all the time. So rather than *some* of the cows excreting that hormone, *most* of them are. |
Stuff in food really scares me. I wish i had the time to grow my own stuff and cook everything from the very basic ingredients. |
I live in Wisconsin. I don't drink much milk, usually just use it for cooking and such. I've never heard that about the hormones etc. It's interesting to know. |
