Help, Lifting Photo To Put On Wood Has anyone ever lifted a picture off of paper and placed on wood. I am doing a gift for two young special ladies here on yorkie talk and I think it would look so much nicer if I were to be able to do it this way. I appreciate if someone could help me otherwise I will have to decoupage them onto the woods and I would rather not do it that way. Appreciate someone's input to how this is done. Thanks. Patti |
When I was in Junior High, LONG, LONG ago we did it by gluing a picture face down on the wood letting it dry thoroughly, probably over night then carefully wetting the pictures back and gently scrubbing the paper off, probably under water. It is hard to get it to come out well that way though. You have to be sure that the picture front is evenly covered with glue or you could have holes in the picture when you scrub the paper off. Make sure the ink on the picture is waterproof of course. There are probably better, "specia"l glues and stuff now, I would look it up on the internet under mod poge or decopage and see if there is a better way. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out! It might be easier to just decopage or put it under polyurethane. I have seen that done and it looks really nice! |
Patti,i Have Never Heard Of That, does It Have A Name? Sounds Interesting ! |

Shadow, I know that they can do lifting with something to put onto fabrics, so I would think by now they should have something out to do for the project I have in mind. I may just get that which is used for lifting photos and placing on the fabric and try it and see what happens on a wood sample, will let you know how it goes, say I will be getting a package off to you before too long :-) I did use the photo paper for transferring photos onto T-shirts years back for the kids, that came out really neat. Debi How are things up your way, sure hope I can get a good nights sleep, three nights in a row now of being woken in middle of night to fire truck sirens, they went down the canyon. Santa Anna's will be kicking back up Saturday :( needless to say once I hear those sirens, there is no getting back to sleep for me. Really feel it too. Little Bit Thanks so much for the post, I recall doing that too years ago but they didn't come out real clear and this I really want to be nice, if I have to do the decopage then that will be okay. Preferred the other :) Have a nice night. Patti and Jack |
