MyFairLacy | 11-02-2007 05:31 PM | That's aweful! I don't believe any dog should live outside, no matter what their size. Dogs are pack animals and want to be with their pack (family). People with outside dogs would have to spend hours a day outside to give the dog the socialization it wants and needs to be happy, and I don't know too many people that spend that much time outside.
Someone said something about having dogs outside for protection - someone actually pointed this out to me before: If someone was going to steal something or do something to hurt you, they are going to break into your home. How is a dog chained up outside (or even one in a fenced backyard) going to protect you when it can't even get to the bad guy? And outside dogs will bark at all kinds of stuff so most likely, it will just be ignored if he's barking at the bad guy trying to break into your house. It makes a lot more sense to have a dog INSIDE your house if you want protection..since that's where the bad guys want - is to get inside.
No dog should have to live its life outside, away from its family. :thumbdown |
