Looking For a Yorkie Pup in NY/NH/ME states.. Hello, I am new to this board. I am intrested in looking for a new pup to add to our little family. I have done alot of research on these little guys and think that they are the pup for us. Any info on where as one might be in those states listed above would be most appreiciated. We are living in Me right now but are soon to move back home to Ny. Thank you in advance! :) |

I don't think he is going to be tiny. Both his parents are 5 to 5 1/2 lbs. By the way - just for your education, we don't call our tiny ones tea cups. That is an expression that has been picked up I guess by pictures of tiny ones in cups etc. For the Serious breeder they are just small or tiny ones. By weight we would consider them under 4 lbs. at adulthood. Growing to 5 lbs. is a good weight. Sometimes the smaller ones can have problems, or if they do get sick can succumb to disease much quicker then a 5 or 6 lbs. yorkie. You have to be on guard all the time when you own a dog under 4 lbs. |
"Thank you" I am going to continue to look. I have found a few breeders from the internet but may ask my grandfather for more information regarding the where abouts of a good breeder when the time is right. You may have heard of him, he judges the Terrier group in the Westminster as well as the Eukunuba. (Ken McDermott) Thanks for your information. I am looking for a "tiny/small" Yorkie. I have owned a Schnauzer in the past, and he did get to be a bit bigger then i thought he would. So, basically the smaller the better breed wise, although I want to be sure to get a decent sized pup to avoid sickness. |

When I pick him up on the 4th of March I will have a better idea of his growth potential, although no breeder can guarantee size. I will also know better if he is show or pet quality. As of all the information I have on him to date from the breeder (owner of the dam), one is smaller then the other. It's true that a breeder can't always guarantee the size of a yorkie. I saw both my yorkie's parents. They were 4 pounds and 7 pounds. I'm not sure what happened, but my boy is a stocky 15 pounds now! I personally like the bigger ones better because there is less chance for injury by stepping on them or falling off the bed, etc. Good luck with your puppy search! Kristi |
