Hi :) Quality Canines does register the dog with AKC, CKC or whatever u wish...My chow was registered with the AKC, both her parents were show dogs and she came from QC...Sammi I didnt register because I had no intentions on spaying her so there was no need for me to have her registered...I just registered her with the Dog Registry of America :) Quality Canines puppies are not from mills (in my 2 experiences) and as Irmi623 stated you get the breeders name so you can do your own research...Which is what I did...Ivan (the owner of QC) is wonderful...He has a great attitude and will answer anything...From what I understand he lives above the store so he takes the puppies up with him at night :) Please feel free to PM me with any questions! Good Luck! Fran |
Thanks Thanks for the help! Has anyone gotten their dog from a breeder in Brooklyn named Tony? No last name yet...just found him on the internet and curious... For those of you who have used Quality Canines, how much did you pay? THANK YOU! |
Tony? Please make sure you are NOT buying a puppy from a location on 17th Avenue (New Utrecth Ave) That place gets its dogs from mills, and tried to play it off like they breed them in Brooklyn AND THEY DO NOT!! I paid 1800 for Sammi...I got her at 14weeks old |

Thanks for the warning. I just contacted Tony and he said he's located in Manhattan Beach, so I don't think it's the same guy. Is the guy on New Utrecht Ave go by Tony as well? I defintely don't want a mill dog! Thanks again! |
Manhattan Beach...Cool! If he is the breeder then the parent dogs should be on the premisis, ask to see them... The place on New Utrecht is a "puppy store" hes got hundreds of puppies, its awful..so stay away :( How did u find the guy in Manhattan Beach? How much is he asking for the pups? |
Tony the breeder's info Quote:
I found Tony on dogbreedinfo.com. He's asking $1500 and has a new litter that will be ready to go in a week. I'm not quite ready to get one yet (financially, mostly), so I'm going to opt out. But, since I haven't seen any of his dogs (besides pictures) or where they're bred, I don't know what his deal is. Here's his number I got from the site: 646-354-1562. I figure if it's posted on another site, it's fair game to post it here! |
I saw the ad here... http://www.terrificpets.com/dogs_for...asp?adid=20887 I dont know, I am always so weary of people who advertise "Teacup"...But thats just me...Sammi is 9lbs hehehehe :) |
Same Tony! Fran42478-- Looks like we got to the bottom of that mess! Same phone number. Apparently he has more puppies than you thought! So wrong. I, too, am leery of "teacup" yorkie ads... Thanks for the info. He definitely won't be getting any of my money! Those poor puppies... :thumbdown |
I would really suggest you go look at Quality Canines...Ivan is wonderful...He lets you interact with the pups, there is ZERO pressure from him to buy and when I went his yorkies ranged in prices from 600-2000...I didnt price Sammi before I fell in love with her on the spot...Because I went in saying to myself "Fran, you are not spending more than 1000" YEAH RIGHT!!! I fell in love with Sammi the moment I saw her!! :) Good Luck! |
I just read something about Quality Canines in Brooklyn on Stillwell Ave. was robbed at gun point or something and five puppies were stolen. |
He was robbed...In 2003...Here is the article... http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-127741c.html None of the puppies were stolen, he fatally shot the 2 men attempting to rob them... |
Maybe I got this story mixed up with another one. I swear I read something about a two thieves stealling five puppies and then the owner of the pet store going to track them down in their apartment to get the dogs back. Probably was somewhere else. |
Hmmmm In Brooklyn? I don't recall hearing anything like that, but so much stuff happens ya never know :) |
Wow.. Thats scary.. Ivan was awsome... It was such a great experience.. He even gave me a good deal on Mocha!! I suggest Quality Canines!! |
i know the yorkies and chi's are different prices im lazy can someone find out home much there chi's are for me thanks :D i know chi's are cheaper |
bump!!!!!!!!! |
I got Archie from a place in Flushing, on Kissena Blvd. called "Home of the Puppies and Kittens." They have the cutest little puppies there. I got his papers and called the breeder in Oklahoma, etc. and it all turned out to be genuine, so I'm really happy. Honestly, they do a pretty good job of keeping healthy puppies and the people that work there are great. Incidentally, I went in last week just to see what their yorkies go for and the price has gone up to 2200 (the average age was about 2 or 3 months old). I had gotten archie for 850. However, I think that I got Archie for less because it was obvious that he was going to be a big yorkie (he's 11 lbs. now). Plus, he was over 4 months old (almost 5 months) when I got him. When I talked to the breeder in Oklahoma, he was honest with me that he used to sell his yorkies at 6 weeks old, but started getting complaints about behavioural problems from being taken out of the litter so early, so he started to sell them when they were a bit older. Archie was with his mom and sister until he was 2 or 3 months old. It's really important to make sure that the puppies are old enough to be taken away from their litters or they will develop social and behavioural problems like biting or nipping. Although it's really cute to get a 2 lb yorkie who's like 2 weeks old, it might not be the best idea. I think an older, bigger yorkie will be less money and a better pet in the long run. I can't think of a better dog than Archie. He loves people, he's well socialized with other dogs and he's very obedient and playful. Unfortunately, it's hard to find a yorkie that's 5 months old because people love to get them right away and especially in NY, totally willing to spend upto $3000 for one... |
Tony in Brooklyn jmtui (or anyone else who may have visited this breeder) I saw your posting about Yorkies and wondering if it is the same Tony in Brooklyn. Phone: 646-354-1562, Email: littlegny04@aol.com. Did you visit them yet? I'm thinking of getting a Yorkie from them and wondering if anyone has been there and what you think. Thanks, Jessica |
LOVE the little guy I got from Quality Canines - Stay AWAY from Puppy Boutique 1 Attachment(s) I first went to the Boutique after being assured by them over the phone that all the pups were bred locally and safely. Immediately upon walking in I could tell it was absolutely a puppy mill front. You could see the blue in the pups pupils (indicating early cataracts - which lead to blindness) and they were just... off. It was heart wrenching. I headed over to Quality Canines expecting to find more of the same - but was thrilled to see the little guys were healthy, seemed happy and I literally would have paid twice as much for the $850 yorkie I bought. He is a DREAM. Sweet, smart, playful, perfect and I've had him for two years now. |
Lots of folks seemed to like Quality Canines... That's good... I have gone by a bit recently but I always get a weird feeling seeing the storefront... I never want to be the only one in there, ya know... |
Definitely understand. Even though I think my dog is perfect, until today I had no idea that others shared my enthusiasm of the place. I thought maybe I just got lucky. I did a ton of research before I went to make a purchase (although I wasn't commited to buying a pup that night if I didn't see what I wanted) and Ivan answered all my questions before I even asked them (and I had them all written down!) The ONLY negative I should share is that I was told Kicho would grow to about 7 pounds. He grew to 14 pounds!! I hate to think that I was tricked, so I'll give QC the benefit of the doubt and believe there's really no way to predict their size. If you do go to the store - I'd suggest going during the day and bring a friend - it's not the safest area. |
I'm not so much concerned about the neighborhood... I'm a guy and it reminds me of where I live in Queens... It's a bit rought but all in all not too bad... |
Hi Everyone! :D I purchased 2 dogs from Quality Canine in Brooklyn, NY on Stillwell Avenue. I firt bought a male Maltese (named Codie Lee). He is about 7 lbs full grown. I paid $1,000 for him and he is MORE than worth it. He is a true joy. He's just the most beautiful and loving dog I've ever seen. Ivan (the store owner) actually wanted to buy him back from me because he's perfect for breeding. But I said NO WAY because he's my angel baby (and I had him neutered at 8 months old). The second dog I bought from Ivan is an adorable tiny tiny female Yorkie (named Katie Lyn). She is 2.6 lbs FULL GROWN. She is really a sweet and affectionate little girl - always ready for kisses. Both of my dogs sleep in bed w/ me and my hubby every night. They are like our children. Anyway, I got Katie for an INCREDIBLE price - only $1,200. I am currently looking to add 1 more female tiny Yorkie to complete my "fur" family. All I can say about Quality Canine is that Ivan (and his wife Cathie who sadly passed away this year) are extremely professional. This business is his LIFE. He LOVES his dogs and is always kissing them. They are NOT from Puppy Mills. He is just an all around nice guy. Also, I just want to mention that my Maltese, Codie, has absolutely NO TEAR STAINING! He was bred so well that he simply has no red tear staining whatsoever. So if you are looking for healthy, happy dogs, go see Ivan at Quality Canine. You won't regret it. Please feel free to e-mail me w/ any questions! |
One more thing I forgot to mention: If you're looking to buy a puppy in Brooklyn, NY, do NOT shop at Puppy Petite. (www.puppypetite.com) They are a PUPPY MILL! I have a friend who (against my strong advice) bought a male Maltese from them and the poor dog had liver shunt and died at 7 months of age. She is STILL heart broken over losing him. They would not give her a refund. They said they would give her a discount if she bought another dog from them. What heartless people! Puppy Petite dogs all have severe tear staining and look sickly and cramped in their "cages". Please avoid shopping there. |
Hi I wish I could get that kind of money for my yorkies! Please be wear of any breeder that say teacup! No such dog ! Just Yorkshire terrier ! I only sell my females for 800 full AKCREG. MY babies stay 7 lbs and under!Be careful buying pups from MO. That Puppy mill usa! I don't post here much but had post on this one! If They won't let you see the momand dad if they have them don't buy!If they let them go before 8 week and not vet. check ,don't buy! If they don't give you at less6 month Gt. ,don't buy!If you have a pup die within a year of liver shunt and they wel not replace it don't buy!I could go on and on! Please be really carful when you are paying that much money! Lily from Indiana |

Wouldn't hesitate to get another pup from Marie. |
Quality canine. Yes, quality canine is where i bought my lil one as well. I love him to lil pieces and he is quiet a healthy dog. Except my lil one is 10 pounds now and wasn't suppose to be more than 4 pounds. I have to agree with some of the responses on quality canine. It is so freaking clean in that store and his dogs are so beautiful , also he has one dog to a cage. His store always smells nice too. I just wish that i hadn't paid 2,000 dollars for my dog. wow, can't believe about his wifes passing. |
I am so happy with Mocha.. LIke several said, Ivan said she would be about 8 lbs full grown but she's already 7.5 @ 6 months.. I don't mind though.. The bigger the dog, the more love they give to you!! I am so please with Quality Canines and have recommed it to MANY people since |
It is very hard to judge a dog's full grown size when they are 2 or 3 months old. I bought my Yorkie when she was 5 months old and she weighed only 14 ounces. If you buy a dog 5 or 6 months (or older) you have a better chance of determining their weight. If you buy a 3 month old dog, it's almost impossible to predict. So if you're really looking for a tiny Yorkie, get a slightly older one. |
Hello everyone! I bought my puppy in Brooklyn here: http://www.puppypetite.com/yorkies.html and want to tell you about my experience : my poor puppy was already sick, she had a runny nose (later when I brought her at home I realize she was coughing also), people in that store said, that this is O.K. and gave me medication antibiotic with my puppy, they said just give antibiotic for 7 days, and everything going to be o.k., but not, it's already more than 3 month since I bought my puppy, and my baby still sick, (it's a long story you can read in my thread in Yorkie Health & Diet: My Yorkie coughing a lot, please help! what can it be? ) my vet bill is 3 times more than I paid for my puppy :-( Just want to tell you don\'t buy from that place! |
