Should i buy a puppy from either laughlin kennel or elite puppies and groomin? Ive came across these 2 places they look good ive been there before there both nice and patiend and there both female yorkies looked healthy and happy and the place was clean in elite puppies and grooming we were the only ones there but in laughlin kennel was much more people but i would like your opinon if i should buy my female yorkie from there if yes which laughlin kennel Or elite puppies and grooming please i would very aperciate each of your opinion:) |
I would say neither. Both are not what I would look to when looking for a healthy puppy. Seems to support people who run puppy mills to me. I would never support that and the conditions that dogs are in within those places.:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown |
Thank you for the reply ive read so many good reviews and the puppies looked so happy and well taken care of its soo confusing:confused: |
No, no, no! They are pet stores/brokers for puppy mills! Home Laughlin Kennel home page Puppies, Breeder, Massachusetts |
So im really confused cause where else would i buy a female yorkie in ma oyher than those 2 and thats lower than 1000 dollars and im not getting a shelter dog |
You need to do some research on Yorkshire Terrier Club of America for breeders in your area. Look at the puppies for sale here and read up on what to look for in a breeder. It will save you lots of money in the long run. I know of one in Maine, my mentor, Holly from Taylor Made Yorkies. Also there is Jubilee in NH Donna Plumpton. There is also Magic Genie on here Susan Dodge from Clover Hill Yorkies... Those are a start... |
Okay thank you so much i will contact them imediatly |
You may have trouble finding a puppy, especially a female, for under $1,000. It will be worth waiting to save up more money, though. "Bargain" puppies are poorly bred and may carry lots of genes for hereditary diseases. A "bargain" puppy can rack up some huge vet bills over it's lifetime. Worse, they can break your heart if they die too young. |
Just giving another vote to stay away from those two places! No way would I want a dog from one of those sites. This is exactly what you want to avoid. Red flags for you are sites selling multiple breeds, selling mixes, selling other people's dogs (broker), advertising teacups, poor guarantees (one of these sites actually requires you to purchase a guarantee that will include vet fees up to purchase price in lieu of trading in the pup and a 2 year guarantee instead of one), sales specials, financing, when they say they have "acess to" dogs, then they are brokers. Just so many things wrong on those two sites, I cannot list them all. In addition to trying the Yorkies For Sale section here, also post in your regional forum to see if anyone has referrals in your area. The YTCA should have some referrals too. Discouraging--- We're good breeders, with the highest quality dogs, and we skimp on nothing to keep them safe, happy and comfortable. We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and even selling for a $1800 make little or no money. This would absolutely not be worth it as anything other than a labor of love. We can't afford to sell puppies for $1000, plain and simple, can't afford it. Some people really are on a tight budget and can only afford $1000, and that's sad, but the right thing to do is work and save up your money until you can afford an excellent dog, AND be able to afford to care for it. I was in the drug store one day and a young man was there asking the pharmacist where to get materials to make a splint because his dog has broken its leg. Too cheap or poor to go the a vet? I can't bear the thought of a puppy of mine ending up in a situation like that. I live in a poor city that is surrounded by very wealthy towns and I rarely sell a puppy to people from there either. They come in their BMWs and MBs , they look, they question price over and over again. Often they admit they "don't want a well bred one, just want a pet for the kids." I can feel sorry for someone poor, been there myself and it sucks. Plain cheap is another matter. |

Some great YTCA breeders in your area. But, still do your research. You buy your breeder first and then your puppy. If you don't feel fully comfortable with your breeder, walk away. You are buying a relationship and the deal doesn't end when you walk out the door with your pup. |
I agree with all of the above~please do more research to ensure that you are purchasing from a reputable breeder. Let me also add that the one site you linked had a "CLEARANCE" section  That alone should make you run! |

Well, Just google search the names of these kennels and you will see what kind of feedback they have, you will see that they support puppy mills and that puppy Mill puppies are not really a bargain. So many people giving you good advice here, it is your best interest to listen and educate yourself some more. It will save you a lot of heartache. XOXO |
