New to this looking for a breeder in New Hampshire few questions I have found 2 in NH Jubilee Yorkshire Terriers and Toy Town Yorkies has anyone heard of them or bought from them. I got these breeders from Yorkshire Terrier club of america. Is this a good start? Can anyone point me in the direction of a breeder in NH? What questions should I ask the breeder? What should I look for in a good breeder? Is the price differnt if you dont want to breed and just have as a pet? Should I look for a good weight of the Dam and Sir to stay away from a small pup? Should I look for any red flag signs from the pup (skittish, tucking of the tail, not active, should i make noises to see how they react) ETC...... How do I know that the breeder really isnt a broker? Is there anything that I should look for as a red flag from the breeder? Should I ask about any health problems that the Dam and Sir have had? Should I ask to see healh records on the Dam and Sir? Would that be to forward or insult them? Once I get the pup and take to the vet is there any special tests that I should have the vet do to make sure the pup is healthly as stated from breeder? I know that this dog breed is prone to liver shunts is there a test for this? Most breeders offer u a time limit to take dog to vet to find a problem most have been 24 hours to 14 days is this reasonalbe? What if the pup needs a liver shut later in life is this covered under the contract or does it depend on the contract. I am not looking to breed the dog just would love to have as a family pet. I know this may seem like alot to ask but I just really want to becareful as I have heard of horror stories. I know that I dont want to have a dog shipped to me want to see in person. Anything that I might of missed would be appreciated. I have so many questions but cant think of them right now. Thank you for your help. |
Jubilee is excellent-- I don't know Toy Town but can vouch for Jubilee. You have a lot of good questions but need to rely somewhat on isntinct too. Good luck. |
Jubilee I recently got my puppy from Jubilee and she is EXCELLENT! She is very helpful, her puppies are housed in great conditions and we are more than pleased with our puppy! She answered all of our questions. Also, gave us recommendations for Vet and puppy training class. We are thinking about getting another puppy from her! I highly recommend Jubilee! :aimeeyork Also, she will invite you to her home as often as you want to play with and see your puppy before it is time to take him/her home! Go with Jubilee! |

Toy Town It has been awhile since I posted here but I finally got my little furry friend. Purchased from Toy Town Yorkies in Weare, NH a couple of weeks ago. I got a little female and she's been an absolute joy and Nancy was really nice and answered my questions. Her puppies are socialized and my little one fell asleep in her crate as soon as I put her in there. She didn't get car sick, just falls asleep. She has adjusted very well to her new home and I've introduced her to my parent's dogs (they have 2 pugs) and while she was timid at first she loves to play and tease them even though they are bigger than she is. My only concern with her right now is I think because my home has forced hot air she is a bit itchy. Been to the vet and there is no signs of hives, fleas, mites or any real skin problem, so I think like me she has a problem with the dry air. Been running the humidifier and that seems to be helping as she's scratching less. Vet gave me a shampoo that didn't seem to help much so I went out and got an itch relief shampoo and spray. The spray seems to work a little better than the shampoo. |
